THE Medvil Football Club (FC) forced a 2-2 draw with the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao in the resumption of the DFA Women's Open 2009 at the Tionko Football Grounds over the weekend.
UP Mindanao striker Krishna Hernandez scored the first goal in the ninth minute but veteran Leonor "Wowie" Satorre countered with a goal in the 26th to even the match at 1-all.
But Joannah Marie Angeles of UP Min found the net in the 31st to grab a 2-1 lead. Kharlla Solcruz, however, foiled UP Min's hopes as he knocked in a goal in the 68th for the equalizer.
In another match Saturday, the Philippine Women's College (PWC) stunned Seagull FC, 1-0, on a goal by Cherry Mae Vilchez in the 73rd.
League leader Lady Knights FC, meanwhile, remained unbeaten after crushing PWC, 4-0, on Sunday.
Former RP mainstay Merlo Albano scored a hattrick in the 56th, 79th and 80th to lead scoring for the Lady Knights as teammate Shannen Gapate hit the first goal in the 21st.
The Lady Knight garnered a total of 18 points, following a six-win, no-draw and no-loss record, to keep the top spot of the team standings while 3-1-2 Medvil garnered 10 points for second and 3-0-4 PWC grabbed nine points in close third.
Seagull (2-0-5) had six points to occupy the fourth place followed by UP Min (1-1-4) with four points in the league organized by the Davao Football Association (DFA). (MLSA)
