Kaya FC underlines UFL title credentials by dealing Global first loss behind Louis Clark brace

From: Karlo Sacamos

KAYA FC underlined its status as a championship contender in the United Football League as it pounced on a shorthanded Global FC to score a 2-0 victory on Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The perennial title threats banked on a brace by Louis Clark in the second half while their defense held up once again to remain the only squad in the 10-team standings without conceding a goal and one of only two unbeaten sides in the league along with Ceres-La Salle. It was a statement win for Kaya, which handed the defending champions their first loss of the season after four wins and one draw. “It says that Kaya is there and we are a legitimate team,” said Kaya coach Adam Reekie. “But we’ve got a long way to go before everyone starts getting excited about us.” Kaya nudged closer to Global with 12 points, just one behind its victim with still two games on hand. Clark, a British winger, unlocked the Global defense six minutes into the second half with a header off Christian Ayew, before sealing the outcome with his second goal from close range as the marquee matchup was headed into stoppage time. Even without injured standouts Misagh Bahadoran, Patrick Deyto, and Satoshi Otomo, Global led in possession, but failed to find the back of the net, with Izo El-Habib having three chances, only for two to get disallowed due to a foul and an offside infraction, and the other hitting the right post.

  1. Good game of football between both teams. Hope more people could come and watch and see how far club football has come in the Philippines.
