Kaya FC back in UFL title mix after nine-goal hammering of hapless Pasargad

By Karlo Sacamos

KAYA FC coach David Perkovic should make predictions more often.
Because the Australian mentor foresaw that Christian Ayew Egba would score two goals in Kaya’s 9-0 hammering of Pasargad on Tuesday night in the United Football League at the Emperador Stadium.
The Ghanaian forward fired a brace as Kaya moved back to the title conversation after winning its second straight game that improved its point total to 27, five behind Loyola Meralco.
“He’s calling me prophet David now,” Perkovic said of Ayew with a smile. “Hopefully I can make more predictions like that in the future.”
The third-running side regained the offensive potency that had been missing lately as they banked on a balanced scoring output with eight players finding the back of the net.
Kaya thus dealt Pasargad its 10th loss in 12 games to get stuck at the bottom of the nine-team pile.
“Our finishing was a lot better than in recent weeks,” Perkovic said.
The scoreline tied the most lopsided result of the season, first recorded by Global FC in a blowout against Socceroo last Thursday.
In an ominous sign that it would be a long night for Pasargad, Kaya unlocked the defense as early as 37 seconds into the match when center-back Masa Omura struck.
Kaya scored four more goals in the first half, three from Azkals Kenshiro Daniels, Anton del Rosario, and OJ Porteria, and one from Spanish recruit Pablo Rodriguez.
Ayew then contributed output in a span of 12 minutes starting in the 48th, before Richard Greer and Janrick Soriano completed the scoring parade within the last 20 minutes of the match.
