UFL : Nomads to play in Div 2 ?

Nomads seem to be playing in Div 2 this season . They have problems with the new UFL rule about max 5 foreigners on the team and will be playing in Div 2 where they are exempted from the foreign cap rule.

Manila Jeepney Fc a new club wanted to take over Nomads spot in Div 1 , but tweeted to Filipinofootball today that they probably will be playing in div 2.

One spot is available for Div 1 if these news are correct. Union Int Manila or Air Force could get that spot ?

  1. Thanks for the post and the info jonny! I think Air Force should stay in the league since Union lost their relegation matches to Army. It would be as if Nomads got relegated in place of the Airmen and Army had their relegation battle with Union.

    1. Wasnt there talks about the Jeepney team buying the slot from Nomads, and that some of the owners of the UFL are involved with the Jeepney team?

    2. Those plans seemed to have failed. All new zeams have to start in Div 2.

Btw, if Nomads has to go to Div 2 because of problems with the foreigner rule then what is with Pasargad (almost only Iranians) and Team Socceroo (almost only Koreans after the merger with Gen Trias) ? Do they have enough to stay?

    3. I thought this rule was going to be implemented next season, and that teams like Nomads didnt have to follow through until the season after?

    4. Yes, the rule is going to be implemented next season and yes, Nomads and MAJ have 2 years to follow through with it, but the danger is that these teams (however arguably minimal their chances may be) can qualify for the AFC Presidents cup, where there is a limit on the amount of foreign players in a squad. If Nomads would through some miracle, win the league then they would have a huge problem with this rule, from which they cannot be exempted.

      Atleast that's my wild guess.

    5. I dont think they would have a chance in the world to win the league, so it seems that theyre giving up already without trying. Doesnt seem to stop the other teams from signing foreign players. But hey, whatever floats their boats.

Btw, that rule includes the 2nd division, right?

  5. Foreigners will be counted as locals and will not be part of the 5 foreign players limit provided that they have stayed in philippines for five years or more.

    1. But only that only counts for two of the remaining six players or. The rest have to be of filipino descent or have atleast one parent of filipino descent.

    2. Its not that hard to recruit new players, is it? I mean filipino players, or even fil-foreigners. If they decided they would follow up on this, they could do it, but i cant understand why they do it hard for themselves.
