Kaya FC defeated Nomads Auction Manila, 3-1, on Wednesday at the resumption of Division One of the United Football League at University of Makati. Nomads coach Michael Denison, whose team suffered its second straight defeat, was particularly unhappy over two huge non-calls by the referees in the match.
One Nomads player, he contended, was fouled inside the penalty box. A header by Nomads’ Randy Musters, meanwhile, was not counted because it did not cross the line, according to the referee.
Unhappy with the officiating, Coach Mick took it upon himself to post an ‘advertisement’ on Facebook, purportedly looking for new officials. The hilarious job posting read:
ADVERTISEMENT; We are an equal opportunities recruitment agency. Urgently hiring new officials for the UFL. Good eyesight not a requirement, however a physical ability to point and look one way for 45 minutes and then turn around to look and point the other way for 45 minutes is a necessity. Perfect for the hard of hearing because when everyone on/off the pitch shouts penalty, offside or goal you have to ‘sling a deaf un’ even though they are quite obviously correct. You have to be able to act dumb too, because when some one asks you a simple question “why?” you simply reach in your top pocket for a yellow card. So if you are blind, deaf and dumb please send your resume to Stevie Wonder.Roy Orbison@hotmail.com. We accept applications in braille. It’s our game!!!!
Still no word if there were any applicants for this post.

Guess this will end in a fine or a ban for Denison. Sure the decisions may be bad (I didn't see the game), but we have to respect the refs, or else we will undermine their authority.
ReplyDeleteI agree that better refereeing is necessary, but this is the wrong way to ask for it. It's completely disrespectful.
Though, I admit I did get a good laugh out of it. xD
DeleteThis is partly why the ufl is a joke! Yet people go around branding it as "fully professional" and "the Philippines' premier league".... my ass it is!!!
ReplyDeletelike the UFL also the referees are in their beginning....you can't have 1st class referees over night (like UFL won't be a top league right from the start). Everything needs to be developed of ages....and still in Europe or other places you have always doubtful decisions....and especially the teams who lost (and thinks they got a disadvantage) will always have a cause to complain....so take it like is and get more professional and improved in the coming years. all need to work harder, may it be the players, coaches or the referees
