  1. rag tag youth team hastily assembled in days b4 the actual tournament.di lang ata PFF ang ganyan halos karamihan ng NSA sa pilipinas ganyan ang practice pag malapit na ang laban kaya another good example chokes squad na nasa fiba asia champions cup na bond aid roster

    1. FIBA Asia Champions Cup is supposed to be a club tournament but instead sent a national team posing as a club.

Yes, its common for NSAs with cash to just conduct tryouts. No long term program.

  2. Korea 8-0 Philippines. Bad Result. Roxas and Buyco, the two most promising young talents in Philippines football were let down by their team mates tonight. I hope their team mates pull their socks up and do better next time. .

    1. I believe the PFF and the rest of the team is just looking at this AFC U16 Championship as a FREE vacation trip to Myanmar. Winning a soccer game is not the intention. I wonder who's paying for this trip, 23 players and 4 coaches. In America, they call this a major "boondoggle".

    2. This is for 'Aris Caslib boys' to have higher expoaure. They don't care if our Youth will be thrashed in every competition as long as they are the ones who chooses players and enjoying the vacation outside the country. I say Aris Caslib resign!!! Atty Edwin Gastanes you resign also. Our Youth teams are going nowhere and you guys are just looking like nothing needs to be fixed.

    3. Its not about foreign holidays. Its about lining pockets. The PFF is a national disgrace (they choose the coaches after all) and its time it were exposed as such. The experience and the talent is sitting on the bench. They cant pay to get in the first 11.

    1. If I were Sandro's parents, I'll tell him to continue with school rather waste his time with these "clowns".

    2. If I'm Sandro's parents, I will advice him to stay home and continue with school than be embarrassed.

    3. Id advise him to stop waving his arms around and stop pretending to play football, he always criticizes other players because he thinks he is better, has no place here

    4. To the person who this regards, I find it illogical for you to call me out in such a way, mainly because it is both unnecessary and cowardly, judging by the fact that you commented anonymously. First of all, I’d like to say that even though you wished for it not to be obvious, it is pretty clear who you are, and I hope it is as visible to me as it is to the rest of the people reading. For all of the people who could be criticizing my game, you are the last person knowledgeable enough about this sport to do so. I suggest you find something that fills your life more than criticizing young teenagers. However, you can take as many shots at me as you want, but like every determined player, I feed off your criticism. With every bullet, I only get stronger, and your remarks only keep me hungrier and strive for greater successes. Now, football aside, I advise you to take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself why you involved my parents. Not only was that immature, it was also irresponsible and taking things to the extreme. If you want to take jabs at me, take as many as you wish, however, do not even speak about my parents, especially regarding how to raise their kids. You know nothing about how well they have raised us, and what they do for me and my siblings. I hope you don’t take this any further than you already have.

  5. I feel sorry for the coach, he picks the best eleven players, Roxas and Buyco show up, the other 9 players do not even show up. We can produce good players, look at Captain Buyco, he is a star in the making, but the others, need to produce more than just one good player if we want to compete.

    1. Don't be sorry for the coach dahil wla syang prinsipyo. Si aris ang pumili ng mga players at nakita ko during tryout sa Rizal dahil palagi ako nag o observed sa U16. Kapal mukha naman niya nasa Loyola as head coach na ayaw pa pakawalan post nya sa PFF.

  6. I always believe in one step backwards and two step forwards, this was not a good night for our boys. I hope the boys use this experience as a stepping stone to improve in the future, the best players follow a challenging and difficult path. An easy path does not make great players. Adversity creates future champions. GO AZKALS.

    1. Adversity DOES NOT creates future champions, good coaches DO. Same as good teachers makes good students.

  7. Watched the game and saw u16 phil team compete against a world cup competing country. The boys gave their all and thats all that matter for me. The future of phil football is at stake and we should not criticize just because of the lose. Will continue to support these kids and hope they help the advancement of football in the Philippines. 😊

    2. The criticism is not for the boys, they are only 16 yrs. old. The criticism is for the PFF and the coaches for NOT having a youth soccer program worth the efforts of the boys and their parents. Adversity does not creates future champions, but good coaches do.

  8. Are there any footballers in the Philippines with a good first touch who can pass the ball six feet. Did not look like it in that game, looked like a panic attack. Was not pretty to watch. Need to concentrate on first touch training and passing drills.

    1. Certainly yes!..but some opted not to join the U16 because of their academics and scholarships, others played agains korea but winger and striker..some others on the bench.

  9. After such a heavy defeat that hurts only those that gave their all, the boys on the field who are actually only 14 and 15, it is sad to see that politicking and postioning by people that neither went through the weeks of hardship the boys endured nor saw the game in real life or even worse hide behind the anonymous internet dominate the discussion.
The youth system in the Philippines is lacking structure, consistency, and scientific depth but has made great improvements recently. Unfortunately, the other countries in Asia are more committed and make faster progress. This needs to be addressed. If you want to help, sponsor international engagements for the boys U16 and younger, organize international participation in Philippine youth tournaments, build fields, stop the infighting between schools and clubs, start an all year league, train coaches and referees, support media coverage and continuos participation, and help build a professional youth system. It could start small with data collection and statistics for all identified players so they can be observed and grow over time and don't have to be assembled from scratch for every competition taking them out of school for weeks at a time with meager results.

    1. Yes, I agree, a new system, a new coach, start with Captain Buyco from scratch, build a team around Captain Buyco, star of the future.

  10. You just mentioned the things that the PFF should be doing. They are given the responsibility, power and FIFA & sponsors money to organize the youth soccer program in the Philippines. Remember, the U16s were 11 year old kids only 3 to 4 years ago. If they are serious they should have been planning for this AFC U16 championship back in 2014. Fire Araneta, the last Suzuki Cup showed me that he's totally incompetent to manage the PFF.

    1. They had plenty of time to analyze the players this time around, the selection of the first team is suspect to say the very least, they deliberately ignored better players in favor of certain other players. The whole thing stinks to high heaven of some kind of corrupt influence, really disgusting, will it be exposed, probably not. But whoever is accountable will get their karma, people like that will choke on their own disgusting deviousness.Devils do not prosper.

Remember Mari Aberasturi the head coach of that team? NU players na naman dadalhin nya doon at i bench or unpicked those quality players dahil priority nya school hehehe. Ang galing po niya napakaloyal sa NU kaysa bansa natin. Ayan pag natalo sasabihin na naman experience at exposure importante - yan ba ang AFC A license na coach ng PFF? Instilling a losing mentality for our youth?
