AFC U-16 CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 QUALIFIERS GROUP H: PHILIPPINES 0-2 CHINA

China PR scored a second successive win in their bid to qualify for the AFC U-16 Championship 2018 Malaysia after beating the Philippines 2-0 in a Group H tie at the Thuwanna Stadium on Wednesday.
China PR, who had opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over hosts Myanmar on Monday, could have won by a wider margin if not for several spurned chances.
Their superior technique and physique made it difficult for the Philippines and China, after several close chances, opened the scoring through  midfielder Zhang Xingliang in the 39th minute.
China adopted a more aggressive approach in the second half but the Philippines, beaten 8-0 by Korea Republic on Monday, defended stoutly.
The Philippines even had several chances to level the score but their resistance was finally broken in the 89th minute when substitute Pan Yusheng scored China’s second.

Liu Junwei (China head coach)
"Our team created chances but we missed many. Our players are inexperienced and they need to play more international competitions.  The next match is important if we want to qualify. Although Korea Republic scored many goals against the Philippines, we'll be looking for the best result."
Bongbong Roxy Dorlas (Philippines head coach)
"I believe we could have beaten China PR today. We blocked many of their attempts and our counter attacks were also working well. Unfortunately, we couldn’t score despite having several chances.”
