Kaya FC is now Kaya FC–Makati, makes UMak its home stadium

Kaya Futbol Club (Kaya FC) is delighted to announce that we will be participating in the upcoming Philippines Football League (PFL) as Kaya FC–Makati. The PFL, the name of the national league, is expected to debut in March 2017 with participating teams from all over the Philippines. Each participating team in the upcoming national league will have a home stadium, and we will play our games at the University of Makati (UMak).
Kaya was officially founded in July 1996 in Makati, but our story started all the way back in the late 1980s, when the first-ever Kaya players would get together on the basketball court of International School Manila (originally on Kalayaan Street in Makati) for some indoor football. The rest is history, though never forgotten. The club might have come a long way since then, but sometimes the stars align perfectly and light up the path back to where it all began. It’s all about our roots, and the brotherhood and camaraderie all began in Makati, and now, we carry its name as Kaya FC–Makati, with our home at UMak.
UMak is not new to the football scene. For the past few years, UMak has hosted a number of football games and events. These include the Binay Cup, Clear Dream Match, friendly games of the Philippine national football team (Azkals), and the United Football League (UFL). Since 2009, Kaya FC–Makati has participated in the UFL, which was the de facto top-tier league in the country, but the PFL will now be the country’s premier competition and will observe a home-and-away, double round-robin format. With Kaya FC–Makati’s home games played at UMak, it will be a milestone for UMak as one of the venues for the country’s first national football competition.
With our background, heritage, and supportive fans, we are thrilled to have found our home stadium and will carry on making Philippine football history and promoting football and sparking change in the community. We have always been committed to and passionate about our cause, and we know that we can achieve more.
