In preparation for a challenging 2017 AFC Cup campaign, Ceres-Negros FC has recently announced their new players last January 17, 2017 in Bacolod City.
The new signings were a mix of national team veterans and new foreign players to beef up this years campaign. Local signings included veterans in Simone Rota, Jason de Jong, and OJ Porteria with Azkals greenhorn Jim Junior Muñoz and U23 standout Joshua Grommen. Ace goalkeeper Roland Müller was finally presented after six months while Iain Ramsay is still in Australia after signing from the night before.

  1. As a football fan I'm happy for Ceres and Global but I'm not excited even if they have many signings from abroad because it deprives and melts the heart of our homegrown players that after college they will left football and embark on having jobs at the office or work abroad. The PFL should make a rule to limit signings of foreign based Pinoys to enure we have a place for our homegrowns in the starting line up because if we don't start now then when? Fans here will disagree with me but you are only looking to enjoy your selfishness. Look, the fans like you who wants to see Foreign pinoys and foreigners in the starting 11 is not a majority and you cant fill the stadium by 2,000 week in week out. Filipinos are needs a hero who comes from their own backyard just like what the MBA fans come out in 1998-2002 era. Clubs cannot sustain their expenditures if they can have only fans like you who only like foreign based players because you are a minority in this land and that's the reality. If we want to make this PFL a sustainable one then i suggest that we should have a foreign based filipino be limited and you guys can comment on it and i'm not against those guys but clubs can't get ROI (return of investment) forever if this trend will continue. Panaad will not be full every week and so is in Cebu when you don't have a local player strutting his ware in the field. You can't buy fans loyalty every week if that's their gimik. Find a local lad who has potential , give him playing time and you'll see the difference in attendance and even the media will notice it.

    1. How about this, sign up player who is deserving & talented, regardless be it foreign based pinoy or local. Be realistic, our best local will still be below the foreign trained pinoy. So you're saying replace the deserving talented foreign based pinoy with local for the sake of local player. We will go back to dark ages of crude football. kick & run style. Who wants to watch a larong buko football? The potential casual fan will be turn-off. Look at club football abroad, they have players coming from all over the world, but still they are loyal to their club.

    2. Regarding on defunct MBA they foreign breed players like jeffrey flowers and chris clay of laguna lakers kasama yung retired fil-am na si rudy hatfield sa rosters.siyempre full bloodied american alex compton of Manila Metrostars kaya I don't see any problem if Ceres-Bacolod recruited foreign based talents & pinoys with mixed heritage.

    3. I don't mean to exclude all the foreign based pinoys because its really needed but i think i just meant to say that it should be "regulated." Most if us we'll love it but are we in thousands in every attendance? The masses should be served if every club wants to have a full attendance and a passionate voice every game. The masses needs a local a hero in not so many forms but in one or two per team is reasonable enough to keep the club income afloat because they will be the ones to buy thousands of tickets, team kits and watch it on TV's as well as patronize the sponsoring products of the team. For those of you who doesn't believe on our homegrowns than you as a Filipino should not be proud of yourself. If given a chance some of this players will play at the same level and intensity of our favorite foreign ones or maybe excel that to the point it will get some attention to other countries and transfer them there. We can be more proud if that will happen in the "near future" if our boys will be given exposures because they are developed here unlike pinoys who are molded from the other countries whom is not our product , only in some bloodlines. People are afraid that their teams will be blown up if they recruit homegrowns are a sad state of perception. If the coach is good and believes in his team then any player be it home grown or not will still be successful. We are not in the 80's and 90's anymore where Filipinos are playing like British style of useless long balls. Much of our players knows the system of play and the build up style of play. Stop comparing on the foreign ones and believe what our lads has to offer. May God Bless this League to come...

    4. it's not about having all the best and talented players in the team. it is about players complementing each other. look at global, individually kapag compare mo sa players ng ceres, iba level ng ceres. pero playing as a team, playing as a support player, dun ang lamang ng global. kaya sila naging champion ng cup at league. look at jp voltes, sobrang competitive na karamihan local talent. ang dami pa jan na local player na hindi kailangan maging sobrang galing pero kaya suportahan yung teammates niya na hindi pinapansin ng mga tao at media.

    7. Hindi all locals at hindi rin all foreign pinoys ang naglaro sa Hanoi Miracle kundi a mix of locals ang foreign born filipinos at yun sana ang dapat sa PFL na regulation. 3+1 +3( foreign born filipino) dapat para mabigyan ng pansin mga locals natin dito simple as that.

  2. well, I agree with some of your point, but I don't think the teams don't want to get homegrown players from their host city if the talent is right there but right now I don't see them tapping homegrown players as there's still a big gap with homegrown guys and local players who played abroad, In the licensing regulations, which you can read on the PFF site, teams are now obliged to include at least 3 youth/homegrown players from their youth system/host City on the 25-30 official team, It might take a while for us to see a team made up of majority homegrown players compete for a place in AFC champions league or AFC cup. In the last UFL season, teams that is made of Majority homegrown have struggled against the top teams. MSA-Agila,Forza Alabang. but there were also teams that had like 5-7 homegrown players on their starting eleven like GAU and Stallion FC. Global have Paolo Bugas,Paolo Salenga,Patrick Deyto,Badelic,OJ Clarino,Jerry Barbaso,Amani Aguinaldo,Marco Casambre,Richard Talaroc,Nathan Octavio, while Bahadoran and O'Donnel have played here since their highschool and College days, respectively. Matt Hartmann have played for the national team in 2006. while Ceres-Negros have only Casas,Edsa,Soriano,Pasinabo,Jason Panhay as their homegrown players as of now.
