ONE hundred twenty squads from Dumaguete, Cebu, Iloilo and Negros Occidental are set to compete in the Mayor Doc Eric Minuluan 2011 Football Festival scheduled on September 3 to 4, 2011.
The event is part of the city’s celebration of its annual fiesta in honor of Saint Nicholas de Tolentino. It will be played simultaneously at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) and Talisay City football fields.
The organizers stressed that this sports undertaking is a commitment of Talisay City Mayor Eric Saratan, M.D. for the city’s long-term football development program.
The teams will compete in seven categories, namely the ladies open and the girls division (born in 1999), boys (born in 1994), boys (born in 1996), boys (born in 1999), boys/girls mixed (born in 2001), the men’s open, and the 38 and above division.
September 3 will feature the girls division (born in 1999), boys (born in 1994), boys (born in 1999) and the 38 and above division.
Meanwhile, on September 4, the categories to be played are ladies and men’s open, boys (born in 1996) and the boys/girls mixed.
Teams that are interested to join should confirm participation on or before August 23, 2011.They are also required to bring along the final list of players, any identification card of players and certified true photo copy of birth certificate or NSO copy or passport, except for the ladies’ open. Registration is fee.
Aside from Mayor Saratan, the other supporters who bankroll this sports program are Talisay Councilor Edmundo Celiz and Rafael ‘Junie’ Lizares. Celiz also serves as vice-president of Minilu-an Football Club. (JSG)
