MANILA—An exhibition match and 10 exciting league games marked the second Sunday of the highly anticipated 3rd Philippine Futsal League.
Group C powerhouse Pars FC, powered by players from Futsal world heavyweight Iran, outclassed Legazpi FC, 21-3, in a whole-day event at the Rizal memorial Coliseum.
This as Mohammadpour Hamid, one of the top players for Pars FC, was sent off after a red card.
In Group D, Atelier FC eked past PNU, 7-6, while a superior Pasargad squad swamped Eagles United, 24-1.
As a treat to fans and players of the league, an exhinbition match was held between Iranian squad Takhte Jamshid Lions and the Brazilian Boleiros FC, wit the Iranians beating the Brazilians, 6-4.
More Group C games took place in the afternoon fixtures, with a re-energized Legazpi FC recovering from the shellacking they received earlier in the day to pip the Futkaleros, 8-6, leaning on an early offensive to nail their first win.
Pars FC cornered a second victory, running down Gentleman’s Club, 9-6, to cap the day’s hostilities.
Meanwhile, Pars FC standout Manie Mehran continued to lead the league in goals, collecting 9 so far. Teammate Hamid, despite his ejection Sunday, is at second place with eight goals. Pasargad’s Khodarami Sajad has 6 goals to rank third in the tournament.
The Philippine Futsal League continues its 3rd season August 21 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In an effort to promote the sport, an exciting, skill-heavy and indoor version of football, organizers have opened admission for free.
Football fans can catch fast-paced goal-scoring action and even spot current and future Azkals in action.
