  2. What if?? What if lang...?? What if the UFL all stars represent the philippines instead of the azkals?

  3. haha they cant coz not all of them are filipinos or have filipino passports! LOL

  4. so, hindi ba talaga magaling ang azkals natin? nagexpect pa naman ako ng panalo sila 2-0 or 3-0 man lang. di ko naexpect matalo pa sila. or...what if lang ulit? what if ang mga pinakamagaling na football players ng pinas ay di napili sa team natin? what if lang naman...

  5. Drawing Negros selction team , drawing Iloilo Uni Team and losing to a UFL All Star team that has not played together before....

There is something wrong with team selection for Azkals...

  6. Alam naman natin systema dito sa Pilipinas, kikuha whom you know instead na what you know. Remove scrap players in Azkals and replace it with better players, or i should say the best players.

  7. the azkals didnt have the heart to win today. nakakahiya. on the other hand, there are still about 5 first stringers waiting in europe. another excuse they can use are the big and fit africans in the UFL all stars team.

  8. am not impressed with that nathan guy from the US. matangkad nga pero mabagal kumilos. mabuti pa siguro ito si hartmann.

  9. i dont care kung walang pinas-born player sa line-up basta pili-in lang nila yung pinakamagaling na players as long as filipino citizens.

  10. drop everyone from the national team!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. What's Barsales still doing in the national team? Didn't he already announce his retirement from international duty?

They should also drop Gener already as well!!

Mark Hartmann has been on form lately. He should have a shot with the national team.

And how about the subs for the national team? Any?

  12. match was an embarrassment. some of the members of azkals were mediocre at best.

  14. Exhibition game = Loss = End of world for so called fans. This game doesnt matter anything. Its just another opportunity for the coach to try players in different positions or try formations and whatnots. But people doesnt seem to understand that. The azkals will step up when it really matters, and the team will be reinforced before they meet Sri Lanka.

  15. glaring ung CDM position ntin.. c JYH playing CDM?..
Lucena? De Jong?.. and maybe from the UFL all stars c Anto?..he's such a spitfire knina..Azkal nmn sya dati db?..
tska c Sabio prang naliligaw s CB..dming errors..
Burkey and Misagh not so good debut I guess..
and para s all stars Mark Hartmann for a call-up!!
at c Jerry knina my gusto tlga patunayan..
anyways overall it was good for Philippine football..
Azkals will learn from the game and the people now know the competitiveness of the UFL..

  17. This doesn't prove that UFL all stars are damn strong. This just proves our NT still sucks ass. Well yes we got many players to join and i'm still positive about the first round vs Sri Lanka, but it would be impossible to get over Kuwait unless something dramatic happens on the team in a month or two, especially defense. Well, if Schrock and Cagara successfully join in the Azkals our side defense will be fine, but what about our centre backs? Kuwait's attack is way stronger, faster and technically superb than any teams we've met in last decade and i strongly doubt Aly, Anton or Gier can stop them. Neil is not a god.

  18. UFL players did well. all-out. M. Hartmann was on fire in CMF. Barbaso was a solid LB. strong Villaflor on goal! Azkals were not. poor teamplay, if any. JYH played a CB in CMF post - receive and clear the ball. PYH, a GK in a FW outfit - wait for the ball. Anton and Sabio left Ali in defense. Try-outs still for Burkey, Misagh and Tuason, really? Chieffy, Ian and Simon were good but not enough.

  19. This was a real ass-kick for Azkaleros but a great result for Filipino Football. It shows the UFL is no mickeymouse league. Now let's get a full national one up and running and see the game truly take off.

  20. it was only an ´azkal 2 team´ which competed vs ufl league team, said an pfsa member. is this true? what´s that?

  21. "it was only an ´azkal 2 team´ which competed vs ufl league team, said an pfsa member. is this true? what´s that?"

They're trying to imply that the national team that played against the UFL XI was the 'B' team. Whoever said that is trying to sugar coat the result. That was not by any means a team 'B'.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's not the strongest UFL team. There are still a number of players who had not played today.

Misagh's form is on a dip. He has not scored a goal in several matches lately.

  23. Come on guys, don't lose perspective. Remember that the team is not complete and this was an opportunity for Weiss to test the mettle of some of the new players like Bahadoran, Burkey(?), etc. who were making their debuts as Azkals.

I watched the game live and I will say though that the Azkals were a bit sluggish and didn't have much spirit in them until they realized midway in the 2nd half that it was getting embarrassing for them. They did dominate more of the game and missed a few good chances at goal.

Secondly, the central midfield pairing was JYH and Simon Greatwich, none of which are holding mids. It left gaps between the Azkal offense and defense when the two pushed up at the same time (one should have dropped back if the other was going to make a late run into the box to support the attack), giving a lot of room for the UFL mids to provide an outlet for their defense to relieve the pressure and transition into the attack. UFL All Stars had fewer chances at goal, but they took them well. Breaks of the game, and it was pretty good and entertaining match too.

  24. I hope UFL champ club will participate in AFC President's Cup (3rd tier tourney of annual AFC club competitions). In this tourney so far, clubs from Central Asian ex-Soviet countries like Tajikistan or Kyrgyzstan had dominated until Myanmar league champion club won the first title last year. I want to see how UFL club will do against these clubs.

  25. Regarding the comment that it wasn't a "B" team, so who are Lucena, Gier, Jonsson and Guirado? Second string players/subs?

The choice of J. Younghusband and Greatwich as the central midfield pairing resulted in a lack of bite and control in the midfield and less protection for the back 4 as both aren't defensive midfielders and James is better used playing wide along the wings.

HOWEVER, this still does not excuse the lack of heart and intensity with which the Azkals started the match.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "Regarding the comment that it wasn't a "B" team, so who are Lucena, Gier, Jonsson and Guirado? Second string players/subs?"

So you're saying it is a 'B' team?!? If yes then you're clearly blind and stupid!! Just look at the team, Etheridge, Del Rosario, Borromeo (captain), Younghusband brothers, S. Greatwich, Caligdong... all of which were starters and first choice players for the national team. So how is this a team 'B'?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is a "B" team because Sabio, Misagh and Gener are not first choice players. Yanti only played a few minutes and was replaced by Burkey, a debutant like Misagh.

The "A" team would preferably have Gier in place of Sabio, Jonsson in place of Gener and Lucena in place of Misagh but with Lucena going into the Defensive mid role and JYH moving out wide where he is more effective. Then of course, you will have Guirado playing instead of Barsales/Burkey.

The central pairing of JYH and Greatwich was makeshift as evidenced how it wasn't effective in shielding the back four and gaining more control of the game in midfield. That pairing was an accommodation/adjustment due to the absence of some of his first-choice players based in Europe and possibly to also to see how Misagh would do on the wing on his first time out.

And speaking of first choice players, you mean Burkey is first choice over Ian Araneta? Weiss subbed out Greatwich to put in Ian because it was quite obvious he was checking out Burkey, who didn't do too well in my opinion.

I'm not blind or stupid. Look at the Challenge Cup Qualifiers line-up in Myanmar, that's the "A" team of Weiss.

If you understand what's going on, Weiss is still in the process of selecting his final squad. This game was a good chance for him to try out new players. I don't think Weiss is stupid to think that JYH and Greatwich as the central pair and having no natural defensive mid is a valid option. He took that gamble with that formation so he gets the chance to evaluate his bench and new players.

By the way, not looking for a fight here. Just a rational discussion. Apologies then if my prior comment was a tad too sarcastic that warranted name calling from your end.

  28. Regarding the AFC President Cup. I doubt the UFL meets the requirements as of now. Even the founder/president of the UFL said last year that the league has still a lot to improve before a team from the UFL can compete in Asian club tournaments.

And when it comes to the allegations of team B. Well, im sure it was one of those german fools from PFSA who said that. Azkals fielded a very strong team against UFL all stars.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's not the team B! Just stop trying to sugar coat things FFS!! Gener has also become first choice lately!

  30. this azkal team is a shit. too much publicity, loves to face the media, spending too much on tours and until now they are not a team as a whole. wake up mr. coach and overhaul the team. replace the overseas players who are not practicing with our local boys.

    ReplyDelete
  31. While I stand by my contention that it was a "B" team, in the sense that it wasn't the ideal starting 11 eleven of the coach, I will however agree that it was still a strong team that was fielded for that game. I am not sugarcoating things, note that I mentioned in the same post that this doesn't excuse the lack of heart and intensity with which they started the game. I expected them to win, even with a makeshift formation such as that.

It was a close game after all, the Azkals were wasteful when they had their chances and the JYH-Greatwich central midfield pairing didn't provide the Azkals a tighter control of the match and resulted in a more open game.

There was nothing at stake here but pride, so I'm not going to trash the team just for this loss. This is part of their preparations, where it matters most is matchday against Sri Lanka. In a way, I'm glad they lost because this should shake the Azkals out of their stupor. Yes, those distractions and lack of focus have started to become a liability for the team. This loss should probably get their heads in the right frame of mind for the qualifiers.

  32. @Anonymous about Presidents Cup

The UFL founder must have meant AFC Champions League (ACL) and AFC Cup, top two competitions of Asian club football tournaments. Yes, these two competitions require you lots of conditions in various aspects which UFL can't meet at the moment, but as far as i know, Presidents Cup doesn't require you anything particularly. Presidents Cup was launched for the sake of those countries who can't send their clubs in ACL and AFC Cup, and any such countries can send clubs to Presidents Cup. Even Bhutanese, Nepalese, or Sri Lankan clubs have competed in Presidents Cup and some of those clubs are not even professional, such as police team or army teams. Unlike ACL and AFC Cup, there's no home-away matches in Presidents Cup so you don't have to take care of venue thing or such problems. I'm sure UFL champ club can join in Presidents Cup only if PFF/UFL wants.

  33. Im not sure why the coach still sticks with Anton Del Rosario on RB. Its was not Sabio's fault giving up that goal, if you closely it was ALI fault. Put Hartman on the team.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oversees Azkals follower.Didn't see the game but
Weiss is clearly trying out a number of trialists and cannot imagine Team A will ever concede 4 goals having a tremendous back 4.Jonsson and Gier are experienced pros who make every difference when they play at national level. The hard work will start in Germany when the team can and will focus away from the distractions of the media in Manila,
Sri Lanka will not be under-estimated but kuwait are on a different world stage and beating them really would be sensational.
Keep positive when players return and play in their best positions Azkals should not be underestimated.Todays result was unimportant but will for sure re-focus both squad and managment.

  35. Being the Champion of the National League of the affiliated Member Association of AFC is one of the important eligibility rule for a club to qualify to compete in the AFC President's Cup. The National League must be duly recognized and approved by AFC.

The UFL is not yet a national League.

Tanga ka ba? Every game matters. Try other players at different positions? Are dumb? It only shows that a lot of players in Azkals are not deserving to play for the national team. Come to think of it dumbass

  38. If it doesn't matter, don't even do the game. Or at least, don't let the crowd watch it and don't fucking broadcast it. No one would blame the poor performance if the game was a closed practice match.

also.. not yet a 100% performance for the azkals.. some players are tired playing in UFL like caligdong..

totally agree!. Aly was totally off-form. It's Aly who made those two crucial mistakes, not Sabio. If you guys didnt notice, Sabio was the one who threw in the ball for their second goal.

Guys stop pointing fingers. it was clear, Weiss was trying different formations, it's only in a tune-up game that you can try to experiment things if they could work and not pay so heavily if it doesn't. Some people here are just too dumb to comprehend.

  47. "hindi naman porke sa abroad sila naglalaro, eh magaling na."

To a certain extent that's true. But with the situation and level of football domestically, there is more preference for players who play abroad, and rightly so.

Agree with you bro, Aly made two crucial mistake that lead to 2 goals for UFL.

"The Azkals pressed the action early and were rewarded when Chieffy Caligdong broke the ice in the 10:35 mark. But Eric Dagroh, an Ivory Coast national, equalized on the 39th, scoring the first of his two by eluding the defense of Aly Borromeo." - Maninal Bulletin
