7 YEARS !
what time po ang game today?
i see 18 uhr pala
game over. azkals lost 5-0. was 4-0 at HT.
...lost to a semi-pro team that just recently got promoted?!?! Holy crap. This team is in trouble.
I dont think theyre in trouble. They should still win against Sri Lanka and definitely lose to Kuwait for the WC qualifiers. But they definitely still have a loooong way to go. I'm not suprised that they lost just the final score.
Yeah I suppose, I was trying to get everyone worked up. But we already know their fate. At least there's the Challenge Cup next year. That should be interesting.
I also think the potential is there, though. Maybe the pieces just doesnt fit together or they need more playing time with each other. Coz if you look at the line-up, on paper, it looks like they have talent. Better than what we've seen in years. But teams need role players.
Even Darmstadt is just promoted in 3rd league they train under full pro conditions. And 3rd division is considered full pro league. It was no surprise that they would lose against Ingolstadt and Darmstadt. Just expected the result not so high vs. Darmstadt and higher vs. Ingolstadt. Anyway if you consider in which leagues the Azkals player play it is no surprise. Netherland 2nd disvion (Mulders) can be considered lower than 2nd Bundesliga, Icelandic league is weak, our striker Angel plays on 4th level in Spain etc. So this matches were a good test where the team stands....somewhere between 5th or 6th division (German league)....so you can not expect miracles. And apart from it I am sure other South East Asian side would have also lost against bhose teams the Azkals played or had at least a lot of difficulties to compete with them.........so just hope the best for Sri Lanka (which they are possible to win on a good day). Kuwait is on another level then, so the goal is to play as well as possible
Many moons will pass before the Azkals are good enough to beat any European league team. Losing in Germany means nothing. The only realistic goal is to rise to the top at ASEAN level and results against Sri Lanka will show they're on track to do that.
Knowing where we are, no surprise at all. I'm sure the scorelines would've been even more disasterous if Ingolstadt & Darmstadt played mercilessly throughout the entire 90 minutes. However, i still think we can handily beat Sri Lanka. Looking at the recent form, they look like one of the weakest teams in South & South East Asia region. Only better than Timor-Leste, i guess. As for Kuwait, well, i'd suggest you not to even dream about winning it. Just fight like hungry dogs, allow as less goals as possible, and score at least 1 goal in 2 legs, then i'll be satisfied.
Just wanted to mention that we are missing in this past 2 games Schrock, Jonsson, Lucena, and Potschke, all elements of the defence that were pretty effective in the first 2 games in Germany and I presume will be available in potential games against Sri Lanka and Kuwait. So I won't write their chances off yet for these games. It all depends as I see it upon the coaching. Coach Weiss promised implementing a more compact defence before going to Germany and so far I have not seen any evidence of that. As mentioned earlier, even though losing to this teams is undestandable, losing to them by such a big margin shows a lack of attention to the defensive aspect of the game. Maybe with the addition of the missing players we can benefit from their experience in shutting down high powered offences.
I'm pretty much with all of you guys. The team is getting much needed playing time and exposure with better teams. The bad side might be is that new fans will look at this as a failure, specially with all the hype that the marketing side is generating. I'm a new fan but I understand enough about the team that these guys are not Barca players. I guess we'll see.I guess the Challenge Cup would be a good tourney where they can show how much they really improved. Now what are the chances of the UFL being recognized as a legitimate league or even starting a new one? Or is still too early for that?
Whose the Capt. of this team anyways? Boro?As far as Kuwait, scoring in the Away leg would be pretty awesome. They can get blanked in Manila for all I care, just want them to score at Kuwait, and within a single goal difference.
the experience and exposure they get from mixing it up with these euro teams sets the azkals ahead in terms of phys and mental condition. considering what we got and what we are up against with, i think the azkals are going to battle hard any team, kuwait included.
I dont care about the result. Winning is not the reason you play friendlies, you use this game to experiment or test new things you can and cant do, so game time you would know what formula to use. I agree with most people here, we should address more on defence. Our CD,LB & RB are not the fastest, we need to put an extra DM in the middle.
I think it's a mistake that some fans are focusing too much on the results of these games in Germany. Granted, it would've been better if we had won all the games, but this is not why we're there. The purposes of these games were to build the cohesiveness of our team so "new" players can get to know and familiarize themselves with their teammates and visa versa. Also, it's to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of our offense and defense so we can determine what certain aspects needs improvement. In other words, as long as we continue to make progress, the only results that should matter are the games against Sri Lanka and Kuwait.
No problems with the results in Germany. It was expected to lose vs. the last two teams especially as they play on a higher level of the Azkals. The team can only learn from that. I was able to see one of those last two matches in the stadium. Our team fought and gave the best they can. If you looked into the face e.g. Phil - he always fought 100% and gave his best. The problem is that our defence is not the fastest (as someone here already mentioned)....and they get the goals against them too fast. Like in Darmstadt when everything was decidided already after about 25 minutes (4-0). If you get so fast goals all your tactic and instructions how to make the match is worthless then. But positive is that you almost won't find that much teams in Asia who can compete with those German teams as well. I think even Kuwait wouldn't win vs. Ingolstadt. I saw here matches between club side and national teams that the results of the Azkals are quite good. E.g. Cuba lost 6-0 here to a fifth divion team a few years ago. And see they play in the Gold Cup (even as the whipping boys but they are there)...........I am confident that we can beat Sri Lanka and can give Kuwait a hard fight (if we don't get early goals again)
When the azkals were doing everything they can prior to getting noticed in the Suzuki cup, to get football going in RP even without any funfare and support, there were hardly any comments at all.No one made comments about them at all, not to many people cared except maybe for Dan Palami and a few guys with heart for Philippine football. Now that they are steadily getting the attention and slowly improving in standings due their perseverance for the good of the country, NOW we hear a number of "commentators" who seem to be so "experts about football" , telling them about what they should do, what went wrong, how to correct it etc etc etc in their games. To these people, where were you when the football team was struggling???? I bet they were nowhere in the RP football map or watching basketball.I f I were them, I would keep my mouth shut, leave that job to the competent coach and just fully extend support that they need because these guys, even with less financial support, are fully dedicating themselves and their time and the for the best and pride of all filipino people.Lets give them all the boost they need!!!
"When the azkals were doing everything they can..."You wanna know where the "experts about football" were prior to now? They were probably following another team - a team that was actually winning. It sounds bad but the Azkals were terrible so people didnt waste time. It's as simple as that. Theyre doing better now so they have more fans. So more people would have more input. There's no point in arguing that. It always happens when things change. And who cares who are bandwagon fans. Every sport has them. Even a self-proclaimed lifetime fan would check on his team a little less when theyre lossing. I guarantee that. It doesnt matter if we all coach from the sidelines anyway. It's not like the team will implement our strategy. It's sports, guys like to talk about it when theyre not playing.Anyway, back to the team. I noticed that defense is very suspect to fast counters when they played the UFL all-stars. They get caught out of position and with them not having the god-given speed they get screwed fast.
Boro...get rid of Boro. That is all. To the little punk who complains about people speaking their mind. STFU already. You seriously think ANYONES opinion will affect the team negatively or positive? I would hope not. Which opens up our right to say as we please. Cuba, its not hard to get into the Gold Cup when your playing the likes of "Antigua" "Belize"
Funny things is that alot of people think that the azkals are one of the powerhouses in SEA already, and we dont even have the structure and leagues like what they have in Thailand etc. Ive seen comments that playing against Malaysia, Indonesia wont help Philippines to get to the next level. But thing is, we arent better than those countries, we arent even close, and im talking about the local players. Everyone seems to forget the training camps we had in Thailand and Japan, and even the Mongolia game. We arent as good as many think, and without the reinforcements from abroad, the Germany training camp wouldve been alot different with huge losses. And to the guy who talked about not many Asian teams who can beat 3rd division German teams. Well, there are enough of them. Lets not forget the powerhouses of Asian football. But all in all this was a good training camp for the team. Against Ingolstadt and Darmstadt, the team saw what it takes to play at that level. And the coach could experiment with different lineups. Im actually surprised that they only lost 4-0 and 5-0.
guys dont be scared of Kuwait. kuwait was good 29years ago when they qualified for the world cup in 82. 1982! theyre shithouse now so dont despair! dont despair.
Yeah, lets underestimate everyone we meet........................... Like everyone is so sure we will beat Sri Lanka, like people were so sure we would crush Mongolia, which never happened, and we were lucky.
Clock Works. Listen buddy nobody wants to hear your BS. This isn't Australian Rules. This is association. Why don't you just log off and go watch your self some Sydney Geese vs. Carlton or whatever they hell they are called. Be a good boy.
