Jerry Lucena played in a friendly yesterday for his club AGF Aarhus . They lost 1-2.
He was earlier expected to be in the starting eleven for Philippines against Sri Lanka same day , but chose to play a friendly match for his club.
Another fil-Danish Dennis Cagara was also not in the team in Sri Lanka.

No doubt there are some who question Lucena's and Cagara's loyalty. That's unfair. Every good footballer wants to progress and playing in SE Asia is not considered a step up the ladder.
ReplyDeleteAlso, loyalty pays no bills and keeping a contract with even a third division Euro club is worth a lot more than anything the PFF could offer.
That's life, and all the more reason any good young local player should practise his socks off to get into the team.
Right said....and both Danish players aren't the youngest anymore so they have to secure their future career/life as well. And they finally found a club again and probably won't risking an injury in a 3rd - 4th class qualifying match. This must be recognized and respected....and apart from it we have a strong team together, even their performance was again much weaker than they actually could.
ReplyDeleteThe intensity in a friendly is much different from a WC qualifier game as demonstrated by the rough treatment the Azkals received from the Sri Lankans yesterday.
ReplyDeleteOK so the intensity would be different and a bit higher in a WCQ between two minnows as opposed to a pre-season friendly in Denmark... your point is?!?
ReplyDeleteThe point is if you are recovering from an injury, you are more likely to aggravate it playing in an international game than a preseason friendly. Is that hard to understand?
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with cjeagle
ReplyDeleteActually it was a bit hard to understand as you were just talking about the difference in intensity of the two scenarios, friendly vs WCQ.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you are a neophyte in football. Don't worry, you are in for a great adventure.
ReplyDeleteNeophyte my ass! LOL!! I'm even certain I've had an interest in the game longer than you have!
ReplyDeleteLet us keep things polite Mr Anonymouses. (-: We are all Azkals fans after all.
