After beating Cebu Football Association last Saturday, Ceres-University of St. La Salle–manned Negros Occidental FA squad is looking for a sweep when they face Leyte FA in the ongoing Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Suzuki Cup Under-23 regional qualifying at the Leyte Sports Complex, Leyte today.
The Negros-Ceres footballers are currently on top of the team standing with 12 points after posting 3 wins without a loss while Leyte squad still seek for its first win in the tournament.
Head coach Freddie "Nene" Lazarito said they will stick on their game plan against Leyte and keep their line-up, except for their ace keeper Robert Mendoza. Instead they will have alternate keeper Jurex Replentes to take the post.
As of press time, Mendoza’s local club Dynamic Builders FC is currently playing against Real Negrense FC in the 2012 North Football League 1st Conference semifinals at the Ayala North football pitch.
Also suiting up for the Negros-Ceres squad of team manager Leo Rey Yanson are Azkals’ U23 standouts Joshua Beloya, Gerardo ‘Jinggoy’ Valmayor and Reymark "Buboy" Fernandez, second choice keeper Benito Rosalia, alternate keeper Replentes, Florence Panogaling, Jimmy Malalo-an, Florence Agraviador, Anthony Tongson, George Balceda, Alan Alfaro, Neil Ryan Lirio, Norman Selotorio, Feb Beneminito Baya, Archie Familiar, Ramoniño Aledro, Kent Guevarra, John Vendell Marcellana, Joash Cabus, Bon Joevie Amanquiton, Chip Christian Robles and John Timothy Bolo.
Joining Lazarito in the coaching task are Assistant Coaches Ramon Janeo, Ali Rojas Go, Lemuel Unabia, Hemerson Campo and goalkeeper coach Michael Casas.
J Baguiro led NOFA with 2 goals while Jimuel Ariola and Michael Continedo delivered one goal apiece.
CFA Junjun Pintuan scored the lone goal for his team, which is now at third in the standings with four points after one win, one draw and two losses.*
