I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT WE CAN GET A RESULT – RAMSAY

Ceres winger Iain Ramsay is confident of his teams chances their first Zonal semifinal match against Johor Darul Ta’zim. His belief stems from how Ceres-Negros survived the virtual group of death in the AFC Cup and getting results from teams like Hanoi FC. The Philippines international shares his thoughts on the forthcoming match.
“I think we should be extremely proud of ourselves to finish the top of our group,” said the A-League veteran. “We had very strong and competitive teams against us and to finish top, and to play the way we did, we should be extremely proud. We’ve got JDT ahead of us now and were looking forward to that. It’s a new goal for us now, to beat them over two legs, and I think finishing top of our group gives us plenty of confidence.”
But Ramsay and the team are well aware of the challenge ahead. JDT are no pushovers especially in their home stadium. The Azkals winger treats the home team with the same respect as he did to all previous opponents. “We won’t take them lightly. We haven’t done that to any team in this competition thus far. As i said, the confidence of the squad now especially getting out of this group, is very high. Were looking forward for the game against a strong opposition with the crowd behind them. I feel confident that we can get a result.”
The home crowd will be a factor in this match with at least half of the 30,000 capacity expected to support the Johorean team. Ramsay relishes the chance of playing in front of a hostile crowd. “What footballer doesnt want to play in front of a packed crowd? I mean, rest assured well go out there and well give them decent competition. We’re confident that we can get a result and quite doing that were going back to Bacolod with a point or three points behind us and I hope that our home crowd in Bacolod will make the difference and give us the win.”
The first leg is set on May 17 in Johor with the return leg on May 31 in Bacolod. The kickoff for the first semifinal is slated at 845PM with live coverage on Fox Sports.
