DAVAO Aguilas Football Club (FC) will make its debut in the Philippine Football League (PFL) as it plays against Ilocos United FC on Sunday, May 7, at the Quirino Stadium in Vigan City. Davao Aguilas FC chief executive officer Chito Manuel bared this in text messages to SunStar Davao Wednesday, May 3. He said the team will host JP Voltes Marikina Football Club (FC) on May 14 and Global Cebu FC on May 17 at the Davao del Norte and Sports Complex in Tagum City. The team recently held a training camp in Singapore and returned to the country, ready to test its mettle in the PFL as a newbie. The camp, according to a source, was the original plan of team owner Jefferson Cheng and was requested by head coach Gary Phillips to forge teamwork and chemistry among the players. Dabawenyo coaches Melchor Anzures, Ramonito Carreron and Ronoel Garfin will assist Phillips. Manuel said foreign players Brad McDonald of Australia; Darren Mitchell of Trinidad and Tobago; and Milos Krstic, Marko Trkulja and Nikola Grubjesic of Serbia will reinforce the team along with Dylan de Bruycker, Andy Esswein, Omar Khan, Gilmar Fernandez, Junnel Bautista and Patrick Valenzuela. Davao City players Roeder Stephen Ignacio, John Philips, Amir Amaikurut and Khalil Imran Jikiri; Van Rey Diaz and Princeton Zyreel Josue of Bukidnon; Stephen Juriel Burda of Iligan City; Richard Talaruc, Jr. of Misamis Oriental; Alexis Joseph Cabistante of Tagum City; John Reste Gumban of M'lang, North Cotabato, Mujer Sumail of Cotabato City and Jaime Vicencio Cheng will complete the team's roster. "Mukhang okay naman (ang team) pero syempre kulang pa yan kasi kung kelan lang naman nabuo ang team natin diba (The team is ok but its still ;acling since we just formed the team)," Manuel said as he urged Mindanaoans to root for the Davao Aguilas FC in the PFL.
