Football training center for national teams now beeing built in Cavite

Joshua Lopez, News5 ·

The country’s national football teams will soon have a new home as no other than FIFA president Sepp Blatter on Sunday led the groundbreaking ceremony of a two-hectare national training center in Carmona, Cavite.
The venue, which will house an artificial pitch, a separate grass pitch as well as a futsal field, is aimed to provide a regular training facility for the country’s national football teams.
“It is good that the national teams will have their own home here. They know where they belong and know where they can come and they can practice and we are very happy to support it. In the past years football has improved especially your national team,” Blatter said.
The Manila Jockey Club, operator of the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park where the facility is located, hopes that the venue would pave the way for a new football stadium that would serve as home of the Azkals and other national football teams.
“Because if this will be the national training facility and possibly one of the main playing venues of the national team, we’re envisioning a viewing area of of maybe 20,000 to 30,000 because as football grows in the country, we have to take note of the infrastructure to support this growth,” Manila Jockey Club president Alfonso G. Reyno III said.
The land is leased to the Philippine Football Federation for 25 years. The construction of the facility is expected to be finished next year.

  2. i hope, that one day philippines can send world class footballer in the future in asia or even in the whole world. i hope that our football culture will continue grow nationwide,in that time our deep knowledge and appreciation for the beautiful game will catapult us to the real game of the world and that is football! its time now for us filipinos to open our eyes that we cant embrace games that need "height''. our mind was being over consumed by hype and showboating sport, thus, it breeds poor sense of decision making(impulsive) it transcend also to our culture.

    1. Won't be easy man. Football is the sport that every countries put a hell of effort and money in so it takes way more than just an optimism to compete with the world. Look at other South East Asian countries. They have been desperate for so long to be good at football but still they aren't producing players who can compete even in Asian top level, let alone the world. As for a late starter like PH, i think it will take more than a decade or two only to produce homegrown players who can compete with just SEA neighbors.

  3. I cannot see why The Phillipines cannot be a powerhouse in the region. Filipinos are a creative bunch so why not with the ball as well. Call me blasphemous but I can foresee us being called the Brazilians of Asia. We are Latin after all...

    3. Azkals is a europeans born players.
To say we are europeans is so wrong..
We are no where near them at all..
If we are our people would not be so desperate to leave the country..
We were colonised by them before..
That case all other asia countries are european..

    4. The Europeans of Asia ? Wow, this is one of the most hilariously delusional comment i have ever seen. What kind of European country is so fucked up like PH ? Say that just because PH once was a European colony ? Let's then call Vietnam The France of Asia, and Indonesia The Netherland of Asia. lol

  4. The program of PFF will determine the future of our football. It seems we are overjoyed that were recognized by AFC for our Grassroots development but sad to say after the grassroots course and festival in one town there's no project or continuation for it. It will be another 2 years again for another GCF's or if funded again ng AFC. And then there's the non functional FA's who only wait for project form PFF so they can purse some money and leave onyl meager budget for tournaments or nothing they will do at all. FA's should be canceled out instead the PFF should focus on club based programs.
