By Jerome Galunan Jr.

A total of 204 teams from different football clubs in the country will converge in Bacolod City for the staging of the inaugural 1st Ceres FC Friendship 7-A-Side Football Festival on February 1, 2014.
This was disclosed yesterday by Match Commissioner Warren Concepcion, who revealed that more than 2,000 footballers and hundreds of parents are expected to join and witness, respectively, the one-day football festivity.
Playing venues for this event are the Ceres FC North Football Field, Ceres FC Football Field-Mandalagan and St. John’s Institute Explorer School Football Field.
Tournament Vice Chairman Nicolas Golez said the festival is a vision of Ceres FC Manager Leo Rey Yanson, which is aimed at providing football enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment. It seeks to encourage and promote football development in Negros Occidental, Golez added.
The assembly will be a common ground for gathering all passionate football players, for them to gain knowledge and respect for each other by setting aside prejudice towards differences and replace it with by friendship and camaraderie, organizers said.
The festival, organized in coordination with the Negros Occidental Football Association and the Philippine Football Federation, will feature 10 age-groups – boys/girls or mixed, born 2006 and after; boys/girls or mixed, born 2004 and after; boys born 2002 and after; boys born 2000 and after; boys born 1998 and after; boys born 1996 and after; girls born 2000 and after; men born 1976 and before; ladies open; and men’s open.
Led by Yanson as overall chairman, the organizing committee of the festival is composed of Golez as vice chairman; Warren Concepcion, competitions director and match commissioner; Augustine Rivas, head of officials; Dennis Estaniel, referees assessor; and Norman Fegidero, head of the control and disciplinary committee./

  1. 204 teams yet Palami still one to fill up Azkals with Fil-foreign.
Local born players can be good enough if they are groom well.
Look at Thailand, their team is strong with local players.
The problem is PFF just want quick fix solution.

    1. Thailand? Since public interest in football there began in the 70s compared to philippines just 3 years ago, you can assume pinoy locals are 40 years behind Thailand when it comes to football. it's easy to say that when we are just spectators. PFF's major sponsors only started top asian-level and european-level of training for young prospects just last year and this January. You can't expect locals to fill up their Fil-foreign positions in 4-5 years time. It takes a long time, not just one night. But be happy at least there is real progress unlike the former corrupt PFF president martinez

    2. What happen to the youngster that when to train in Europe.
Last heard, they did not even represent the youth team at ASEAN level.
The above comment is to show PFF is doing their job.
In reality, they are practically doing nothing.
POC knows this very well, that the reason why they decided against sending the men team to SEA games.

  2. Global na ipapasok ang mga national teams this summer sa UFL Youth dahil wla daw budget ang PFF for training camp sa youth teams like our U16 sa U19 ipapasok ng Global and U12 in U13 category. In reality , everytime may mga festivals and tournaments na gaganapin lahat ng organizer ay nakikipag coordinate sa PFF para ma recognize sila and would also give credit to our Federation as well pero alam natin na wlang ginagawa ang PFF dito at puro signature for approval lng ang trabaho nila.
