FOUR more Negros Occidental football standouts have opted to join Armed Forces of the Philippines club teams in Manila in order to be enlisted into the AFP in the process.
This was confirmed to Sun.Star Friday by former RP team head coach and national standout Norman Fegidero, Jr. who is also the varsity coach of multi-titled West Negros University.
The Negrense booters are led by defender Joel Ballo-Allo, a former Best Defender awardee of the annual Philipine Football Federation (PFF) National Men’s Open which was topped in 2007 by University of St. La Salle representing Negros Occidental which defeated pre-tournament favorite NCR-Philippine Army in the finals of the event held in Iloilo City.
Ballo-allo, a former varsitarian of WNU, joined the Philippine Air Force along with fellow ex-Wesnecans Jalor Soriano, Erl Tomodos and Mark Ferrer.
Another ex-Wewsnecan—goalkeeper Kenneth Dolloso, a former Nartional Coke Go-for-Goal U16 National Finals Best Goalkeeper awardee, was earlier reported to have joined the Philippine Navy, although reports later said he opted to quit.
Other Negrenses currently with PAF are brothers Jezurel, Raymund and Ziggy Tonog and keeper Edmundo Mercado, Jr. while with the Navy are defender Loreto Kalalang and keeper Melo Sabacan who are also former Wesnecans. (HCV)
