The Philippine Women’s National team begin their 29th Southeast Asian Games campaign with a match against hosts Malaysia, Tuesday 15 August 2017, 8:45 PM at the UiTM Stadium.
The Women’s team arrived in Malaysia last Saturday, 12 August 2017 following their nine-day training camp in Japan in preparation for the SEA Games.
Head coach Marnelli Dimzon is hoping to put on a good result in the tournament. The Philippines are in a single group with Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
“We can match the pace of the other teams,” said Dimzon. “The experience the girls had during the camp will bear fruit in the SEA Games.”
Dimzon will field a relatively young team for the tournament, but expects her players to mount a strong challenge against the teams in the region.
“It will be a tough tournament against the big teams in the region but I am confident,” added Dimzon. “After two weeks of training, we are raring to go.”
