THE Philippine men’s football team kissed its World Cup bid goodbye as it bowed to Yemen, 1-0, in their qualifying match on Thursday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Azkals failed to capitalize on numerous golden chances, before surrendering a late goal against a lower-ranked opponent to get eliminated from contention before a disappointed home crowd.
Ahmed Al-Sarori spelled the biggest difference, finding the back of the net from close range seven minutes before stoppage time as Yemen, already out of the running, lived up to being a spoiler with its first win in six matches in Group H.
Al-Sarori's goal was the first for Yemen in this qualifiers.
The Filipino booters still have two matches remaining that are now left without bearing.

Defender's mistake , i think it was Kevin Engreso who committed his left foot for tackle instead of just blocking and zones the attacker. Instead the yemeni move to his right and rifled a shot thru the second post.
ReplyDeletewe miss the old guys tandem Anton del rosario and Aly Borromeo...idagdag pa si Jason de Jong..
