Ceres FC resumes training for AFC, UFL tourneys

By Jerome Galunan Jr.

The Bacolod-based and reigning United Football League (UFL) Champion Ceres-La Salle FC has resumed their training at the North Football pitch in Talisay City ahead of the 2016 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup and UFL’s 2015-2016 Season.
This was disclosed Thursday by club director and head coach Ali Bernard Go, who attended the opening of the PFF-Smart National U22 Amateur Championship at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
Go said the club will undergo rigid preparation for these two major tournaments next year where Ceres FC will play 3 home matches in the AFC Cup elimination.
The multi-titled mentor added that it’s an opportunity for the Bacolod side to bounce back from their heartbreaking loss to Maziya in the AFC Cup playoff match early this year.
Moreover, the Ceres FC management is still in the process of signing up new players to strengthen the club’s competitiveness for the upcoming tournaments. “Right now, we are finalizing the details in taking-in these players. We will reveal it as soon as everything is complete,” he added.
However, Go has not yet disclosed the identities of these players including their nationalities and playing positions on the team. “Right now, we are still negotiating with the concerned parties,” Go said.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) President Ricky Yanson disclosed that they will meet with the concerned agencies as well as the Ceres-La Salle FC to prepare the hosting of next year’s AFC Group Stage.
He added that they have to make sure that the football facility meets the requirement of the AFC. “We all know that AFC has set the requirements for us to meet,” the NOFA prexy stressed.
The Ceres-La Salle FC, for its part, is in full support of the NOFA team in the ongoing PFF-Smart National U22 Amateur Championship./WDJ
