WHAT seemed inevitable has nearly become official.
GLOBAL FC moved on the cusp of the United Football League crown following a 7-0 whipping of Philippine Army on Tuesday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
The quick-fire league-leaders jacked up their point total to 50 points in 20 matches, now needing to win only one of their last four games to grab their second title in three years.
“It feels very good,” Global coach Leigh Manson said. “We’ve come to a point where the players can enjoy a little bit what they’ve worked for.”
The remaining schedule looks good with Pachanga, Socceroo, Kaya, and Stallion as Global’s last four assignments.
Milad Behgandom fired a brace, while Angel Guirado, Izzo El-Habib, Aaron Altiche, and Mark Hartmann contributed a goal apiece for Global, which established a four-goal cushion in the first half.
The Troopers stayed in seventh spot with 17 points in 22 matches.
