Sun Online has revealed English coach, Simon McMenemy, as one of the short-listed coaches for the vacant position of national team head coach.
The thirty-five year old English coach is the former head coach of Indonesia Super League club Pelita Bandung Raya. Previously he has had spells as manager of Mitra Kukar in Indonesia, Dong Tam Long-An in Vietnam and the Philippines national football team.
Simon was sacked during mid-season and Pelita Bandung Raya finished 15th in the 2013 Indonesia Super League, barely surviving relegation and having to play relegation play-off.
According to Football Association of Maldives (FAM)'s Deputy General Secretary Ahmed Nasir (Naabe), they have currently short-listed around four head coaches and are also checking new candidates who have expressed interest. Speaking to Sun Online, Naabe said that the FAM is working to unveil a new head coach by the first week of December.
