BIÑAN—Kaya Iloilo solidified its hold of the top spot in the Philippines Football League season after blanking Stallion Laguna, 2-0, at the Biñan Football Stadium on Wednesday.
A first half penalty from Jovin Bedic set up Iloilo's offensive, while a late goal from Jordan Mintah iced the game.
Bedic got a chance to put Iloilo ahead in the 25th minute after Balut Doctora fouled Darryl Roberts inside the penalty spot.
Bedic then sent the ball at the upper right side of the goal.
Mintah then scored the dagger in the 87th minute after finding an opening against Laguna's tough defense from the left side.
Mike Casas, who got the start for Iloilo to give Saturday night starting keeper Zach Banzon a rest, kept a clean sheet for the club en route to Man of the Match honors.
Iloilo moved up to six points after two matches, while Laguna remains stuck at one point
