AFC CUP 2019 PREVIEW: SHAN UNITED VS CERES-NEGROS

A sizzling matchup awaits as Ceres-Negros travels to Myanmar to face Shan United on May 1 at the Thuwanna YTC Stadium in Yangon. The Busmen needs a point in the next two games to clinch the qualification to the knockout rounds.
Ceres-Negros was victorious in the first matchday as they edged the Myanmar National League runners up to 3-2 win last February 26 at the Panaad Stadium. OJ Porteria topscored with a brace while Bienvenido added a goal while Zan Min Tun and Dway Ko Chit scored for the visitors.
The busmen raced to a 3-1 lead in the match before Shan added another but the matched finished with the home squad earning a full three points after the final whistle.
Both teams come into Matchday 5 coming from both ends of the table. Ceres-Negros are on top with four wins while Shan United are bottom with four defeats. The Myanmar side has scored four goals in the competition with half of it against the busmen.
The Philippine champions will be keen to extend their unbeaten run while the Myanmar representatives will look to use home advantage to score their first points this year.
The match will also be played under extreme conditions with a heat index of above fourty degrees at the 330PM kickoff. The Yangon heat has been brutal to away teams especially with Ceres who have played three times in the same venue in the last year.
Stephan Schrock and Maranon is expected to suit up after good performances in the past in the same stadium while Hedipo Conceicao and Dway Ko Chit will lead the attack for the Myanmar squad.
Super Herrera will be unavailable for the match after accumulating two yellow cards in the last four games. He will be available on matchday 6 against Becamex Binh Duong. Forward Zin Min Tun will also serve a suspension in the match.
Ceres midfielder Miguel Tanton is aware of the challenge at hand. “I think the away leg is always more difficult because they know us a little better,” said Tanton.
“Now they are at home so we have to travel and add on to that, the heat. Its gonna be a difficult game but he have a game plan ready to get the three points,” added the spitfire midfielder.
The Negros squad will clinch qualification to the knockout rounds with a draw or if Becamex fails to win against Persija Jakarta in Vietnam.
The match will be shown live on 5PLUS channel on Free TV and on Fox Sports (1) cable channel at 5PM (PH time). It will also be streamed in the Philippines via ESPN5 YouTube channel.
