    1. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cebu withdraw/fold as well. League is now down to five, potentially down to three! If that happens, I'd expect the league to fold as well.

  2. The Aguilas have just bought everybody in last season's transfermarket that make the club a instant Philippine Football powerhouse. They bring in the best of the best : Phil Younghusband & James Younghusband, Matthew Hartmann, Simone Rota, Jason de Jong, Dennis Villanueva, Adam Reed, Dylan de Bruycker, Tyler Matas, along with quality imports Kim Sung-min, Wesley dos Santos, Brad McDonald all in one stroke..

DAVAO Aguilas also haved just brought in major sponsors on board, when it signed a partnership with top airline Cebu Pacific to cover the clubs travel costs, then just sealed a partnership deal with Japanese club Shonan Bellmare of the J. League. Also as the reports says San Miguel Corp. is investing a half billion pesos Davao Aguilas Sports Center project In Mandug, Buhangin, Davao City. It was reported that it will be a 12 hectare sports facilities which has a 20,000 seater Fifa standard artificial turf stadium, a natural grass training pitch and two other artificial grass training pitches, a 12,000 seater Arena, 6,000 seater Training Stadium, 3 star Hotel, FIFA Approved Football pitches, 120 room dormitory.

Also the Davao City Government is investing on the ₱8 billion Davao City-University of the Philippines (UP) Sports Complex project in Mintal, which has a 30,000-seating capacity stadium on it.

What an ambitious plan, a great football venture which was never heard of in Philippine Football History. DAVAO Aguilas is bound the take over not only the Ceres Negros ruled PFL but also the AFC Cup & maybe make a great run in the AFC CL. I was hoping that in next years AFC Champions League Ceres Negros will progress in that tournaments group stage so that DAVAO Aguilas is IN for nest years AFC Cup. Then this report come!

Is this true or what? Are SMC, Cebu Pacific & Shonan Bellmare all of a sudden backing out from there sponsorships or partnership with the club? If it is true, PH club football will lose another leg. With Loyola out & Global Cebu breathing its last breath, a mass exodus of PH footballers going elsewhere is expected to follow. If the PFL dies, Philippine Football will return to its dark era where only a Domestic Cup is being run. PH clubs running on its own, with less quality low budget roster joining on minor tournaments. Football will have zero visibility in the country with up & coming footballers having nowhere else to go but maybe play in the Army clubs again.

What a false hope San Miguel has just made, i'm so disappointed right now. My Dream of a golden PH football era in both club football & international football have just died with this very SAD news. Im in a complete shock right now.

  3. Mr Cheng bankrolled all the Youth teams of PFF but he wasn't given a voice instead it was still Palami who dictate who will be the players to get. Mr Araneta is deaf on both ears as if he doesn't have a leadership in the PFF and i'm sure he wants changes to the PFL but his voice fell on deaf ears. As a businessman he still wants some return of investments. It's the PFF turn now to have it's decision on the media and to the fans to know.

  4. Many speculations regarding the withdrawal of DAFC but from reliable sources the reason behind the withdrawal of DAFC is basically the manner of governance exercised in the management of the PFL. There is little or no transparency and no collaborative decision making or consultations on major issues that impact the PFL clubs directly.

The PFF needs to take the appropriate amount of time to discuss and hear the side of PFL clubs before moving to make decisions. The PFF according to reliable sources failed to consult with the PFL clubs when PFF partnered very recently with a new organization to run the PFL. If you will recall the PFF also partnered with Red Card Global for media and sponsorship and we all know Red Card Global failed to deliver. The PFF then took over and things became even more complicated. There are too much at stake for the PFL clubs and they demand changes or more clubs will eventually withdraw. They want to have a voice and be part of the decision making process instead of an autocratic decision making style.
