  3. Neil is clubless and has played little to no matches, while Müller, Deyto, Pascual and O'Donnel have.

If he wants to get nominated again he has to play more.

  4. Neil is not a superstar in EPL (only in the Philippines) and he is not a starter in any club he goes. He shouldn't expect an automatic entry in the Azkals if he is professional enough. UEFA, AFC and CONCACAF License A coaches knows how to pick players based in their conditioning and playing in as starter are bases for a fit player. Only ignorant people who have no license in coaching are pursuing their 'Idol ' players to be in the line up always kahit na hindi na ito palagi nakalaro at wlang Club.

  5. Too bad Neil felt this way. He needs to concentrate on recovering from his recurring muscle injuries which has sidelined him most of the previous season and at the Challenge Cup, especially since he is looking for a club. It would be a good precaution not to join this training camp.

  6. Neil definitely has talent but top level football requires character compatible with team mates and coaches. Neil's almost permanent position as sub at Fulham plus being loaned out to inferior clubs and finally dropped by Bristol Rovers means he must have personality issues.
Obviously the PFF has never even bothered to thank him for the genuine service he gave to the Azkals but that's life under the ruthless Mr P.

    1. Saying thank you could mean goodbye... so this means he still have a chance once he gets back to his form and even level up.

I think you are the ruthless one.

  7. The player gene pool has improved and there are more,if not better choices. That goes for all positions.

Rather than expect to coast into the team, this should serve as a wake up call to level up further.

    1. player gene pool??? I didn't know we actually go as deep as genetics in picking our players. :D

  8. I'm so sick and tired of these players and their "self-entitlement". That was 4 f'n years ago dude and we haven't seen your best since. Get over it!

    Find a damn club already!

Once you do that, then you can complain.

As far as I'm concern, you don't have a leg to stand on. Those other GKs are playing regular football for their club teams.

    Neil Etheridge = Landon Donovan

    1. What? Neil E = LD? And I thought for a moment that you actually know what you are talking about. But then you really had to bring up your comparison, and then you really lost me. lol. Neil E. = not playing (same with Angel) compare to LD who is playing consistently. No comparison. LD was just as good as Mix D sitting on the bench mind you. But no you didn't think of that because you don't know jack shit! LD's complaining was legit and only the media that sold it. But when you think about it, LD's complaints were legit. But then again it's the coach's decision.

  9. Thats a good sign for PHL football. It is evolving. Getting better and better. Its not that the coaches did not like etheridge, but there are others that stepped up and got better and overtook him while he was not in his top shape and form

  10. LOL!

This is funny. Neil is a good goalie, and for him to see Pascual ahead of him must be painful. Pascual sucks and everyone knows that.

    1. Actually. You kinda wonder how Pascual gets selected when he doesn't even play regular first division football.

    2. Ya, on top of that Pascual sucks! Then you realize he's attached to global fc.

  11. If Neil wants to play in Peace Cup no other choice but to sign for a UFL club.

    1. From EPL to UFL? Haha, thats one funny joke! Please dont tell me that it would be good for his career, coz it wont! A player with ambitions should never sign up for a UFL team. Low quality league. Ameatur league except for the hideous amounts spent on player wages.

    2. Important is the playing experience for the meantime. He is not a World Cup keeper to be demanding. Neil is clubless for 3 months already and the coach wants is playing regularly & fitness,

    3. Better than sitting around and not playing at any club. Look, Neil had his chance at the big stage but he was not progressing and not going anywhere, obviously. I don't think Neil is going to get contracts at the EPL level teams or comparable. I wont be surprised if he'll end up lower than League 2 and end up at a conference league level. From this point on, Neil is gonna have a hard time competing with Roland. In fact, right from the get go, Roland was already showing that he's better.

    4. But the problem here is that you people highly overrate the level of the UFL. He might as well just play sunday league football instead than playing in the UFL.

    5. Neil is playing for the Philippines and not England.

UFL is the league of the Philippines right now, so majority of the national players are now from UFL. The Dooley system is the national player must have a club first. Unfair for the Filipino players who strive hard & regularly play in order to be recognized by the coach to be in the national team.

    6. And the reason maybe is cost-cutting. It is expensive to bring these non-Philippine based players for training. The non-Philippine based players who are doing great on their clubs are the ones who will be called up.

  12. Hurry up Neil and find a club!

  13. Partly to blame PFF.
keeping having training camp and friendly on non fifa dates.
    These fil-foreigners keep attending.
Clubs pay these players salaries but they keep going for PFF training camps and friendlies.
Patino is thr only smart one so far.

    1. Its not up to Patino, its his club who calls the shots. Theyre the smart ones, not Patino.
