THE Columbia Football Club (FC) nipped Seagull/Porky's Lechon, 2-1, in the Davao Football Association (DFA) Cup First Division Games at Tionko grounds over the weekend.
Edwin Giganto and Roger Nathaniel Ubas scored Columbia's back-to-back goals--in the 23rd and 24th minutes. Seagull/Porky's Joven Benitez averted a shutout with a strike in the 36th.
Kilusang Magkaibigan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KMMPC) and the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa), meanwhile, forfeited both their matches as both teams lacked the required number of players during the match.
Columbia had beaten Davraa, 4-2, while Medvil won by default over KMMPC on April 25.
DFA general secretary Erwin Protacio on Tuesday said the semifinal round will kick off on May 16.
Number 2 Columbia, which totes a three-win, zero-draw and two-loss record, will test the mettle of No. 3 Medvil (3-0-2) while No. 1 Hooligans (4-0-1) will clash against No. 4 Seagull/Porky's Lechon (1-2-2).
The triumphant Davao Region secondary boys football team that won the 2010 Palarong Pambansa title, meanwhile, was set to hold its victory party at the Tionko grounds last night. (MLSA)
