Davao Football - Holcim-Rody bootfest up

THE fifth Holcim Inter-High School Football Tournament Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Cup kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday at the Tionko football grounds.

Davao Football Association (DFA) secretary Erwin Protacio said Thursday 10 teams confirmed participation in the 11-A-Side event presented by Holcim Philippines.

The opener pits Davao City National High School (DCNHS) Green against Holy Child School of Davao (HCSD) Red followed by the match between DCNHS-Columbia and Holy Child School of Davao (HCSD) Black.

He said the Catalunan Grande National High School, Emar Learning Center and DCNHS will field two teams while the University of Mindanao (UM), HCSD, Ateneo and Panabo will have one team each.

"We are still waiting for the confirmation of the Philippine Women's College (PWC) and SOS Children's Village. The teams will be grouped into two brackets and will play the single round robin. The top two teams will then play the crossover semi-finals enroute to the championship," Protacio said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn.

Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and Holcim vice president and plant manager Kevin Hughes are guests in the opening rites. (MLSA)
