Kaya hires Australian coach to boost campaign

United Football League club Kaya FC has found a new coach to try to turn things around for the team this season.
Team owner Santi Araneta announced that the club has hired Australian coach David Perkovic to replace Maor Rozen, who resigned last month just three matches into the season.
“@KayaFC is pleased to announce the signing of AFC Licensed Coach fresh from Fraser Park FC in Sydney, Australia. Welcome@DavidPerkovic!!!” Araneta wrote on his Twitter account.
Perkovic served almost two years as coach of the first grade team of Fraser Park FC, a squad based in Sydney, Australia. He also has a master’s degree in sport coaching from the University of Sydney.
In a letter to Fraser Park FC, Perkovic said that leaving the club was tough, but coaching for the first time overseas is an opportunity he cannot resist.
“Its with a heavy heart that i announce my resignation of this fantastic up and coming football club,” Perkovic wrote. “i have been given an opportunity to achieve a goal of mine which is to coach professionally abroad.”
After falling short of the League title to Global FC by goal differential last year, Kaya has struggled so far this season, currently taking sixth spot in the standings after a win, two draws, and two losses.
Without a permanent coach in its last two games, Kaya lost narrowly to Cup champion Stallion Sta.Lucia, 2-1, last February 26 and stopped the Loyola Meralco Sparks’ winning run by forcing a 1-1 draw last Tuesday.
Perkovic is expected to make his debut when Kaya faces Philippine Army on March 12.
