DUSHANBE – Bosnian-born Kemal Alispahić will coach the Tajik men’s national football team, CA-News.org reported February 9, quoting Tajik Football Federation spokesman Faridun Soliyev.
Soliyev thanked Alimdzhon Rafikov for running the team until Alispahić’s hiring. Rafikov, acting coach since August, will continue coaching FC Istiklol.
Alispahić has coached since 1997 in numerous countries. He is leaving Syria’s FC Al-Ittihad to take the Tajik job.
Alispahić will make his Tajik coaching debut February 29, when Tajikistan clashes with North Korea in a 2014 World Cup qualifier match.
