UNIVERSITY of the Philippines standout Jingoy Valmayor will most likely see action in the men’s football competitions of the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia.
Coach Hans Michael Weiss has included Valmayor in the initial list of 35 candidates to the national under-23 team. He will most likely make the cut when the Philippine Football Federation submits its final 20-man lineup to the Philippine SEA Games secretariat by Friday.
Valmayor’s impressive maiden campaign in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines earned him the Rookie of the Year and Best Striker honors when he led UP to the football crown.
It was his plays which enabled UP to beat University of Santo Tomas and earn its second crown in three years.
Some 20 local bets from Metro Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod and Dipolog are among the candidates of the national team.
Also in the roster are UST’s David Basa and Yannick Tuason, along with UP’s Stephen Permanes, Mario “OJ” Clarino, Deo Segunal, Mark and Matthew Hartmann, and Christopher Camcam.
Dutch midfielder Jason de Jong is also in the lineup with Fil-British goalie Neil Etheridge and his substitute, Fil-German Roland Mueller, along with Fil-Spanish booter Carlos Martinez de Murga.
