TO THE MEMBERS OF FIFA
Circular no. 1242
Zurich, 7 October 2010
2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil" - Adherence to the FIFA global security concept for the preliminary competition
Dear Sir or Madam,
Now that the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ has successfully come to an end and before the preliminary competition for the next edition fully begins, we would like to take this opportunity to remind all the members of FIFA of the need to adhere to the FIFA global security concept.
In effect, as a logical continuation of the measures implemented for the previous preliminary competition, FIFA would like to draw the attention of all of its members to the fact that only regularly maintained stadiums can reasonably be considered for hosting preliminary competition matches.
As highlighted in previous circular letters (nos. 1055 dated 6 October 2006 and 1173 dated 29December 2008) on this particular matter, FIFA may, at any time and in conjunction with the confederations, organise a new round of site visits to check the correct maintenance of the stadium facilities that may potentially host 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil" qualifiers in your country and especially those stadiums that were already required to undergo significant upgrades between 2006 and 2008 in order to meet the FIFA standards. Where applicable, your association will be informed in
due course of any such site visit by the FIFA stadium inspector. Any additional information will be provided on a case-by-case basis.
Please note also that the aforementioned inspections could start as early as the coming weeks in orderto take into account the scheduling of the first matches in 2011 Stadiums that do not meet FIFA requirements and standards will not be permitted to host 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil" preliminary
competition matches.
We thank you in advance for taking note and for your valuable cooperation.
