Defending champion champion Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) ended at the top of the leaderboard while the University of San Carlos-North Campus (USC-NC) bowed out in the 10th CESAFI High School Football Championship yesterday at the USC-Technological Center in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
DBTC accumulated a perfect score of 12 points after the elimination round for winning all of its assignments including yesterday's 10-0 routing of the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R).
The USC-NC, on the other hand, squandered its chance to score a win after absorbing a 0-15 loss to the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).
The Greywolves showed that they are still the team to be reckoned with as Joseph Mercado started the rout at the first minute of the ballgame.
Junjay Arizabal completed a hat-trick for DBTC at the eighth, 19th and 31st minutes of the match.
Other scorers for the Greywolves were Christian Agot (6th, 17th), John Caballero (58th, 68th), Valentino Calvo (14th) and Dennis Legaspi (44th).
The Jaguars face the Greywolves anew in the semifinals next week.
USC-NC, on the other hand, limped out with not a single point to its name after its loss to the SHS-AdC.
The Ateneans will be facing the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) in the other semifinal match.
USPF finished the elimination round last weekend with two wins and two losses for six points.
In the collegiate division, defending champions USJ-R will try to wrest the no. 1 spot from USC in the final elimination round day today at the USC-TC football field.
The Jaguars had faltered in their retention bid after losing their opening match this year against USPF. But they recovered by winning their next two games.
The other collegiate match will have the University of Cebu (UC) going up against USPF.
