Both sides came into the contest out of contention, having suffered defeats against Thailand and Malaysia respectively.
Neither side were able to break the deadlock as the score remained 0-0 going into the break.
However, it was the Philippines who would go on to secure the win when Muens made no mistake from the spot in the 56th minute to claim the three points.
