Fulham recalls Etheridge: report

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-British Azkals goalkeeper Neil Etheridge has been called back by Fulham from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic Football Club, a report said on Monday.

According to Charlton Athletic's official website, Etheridge was recalled after he was an unused substitute for the Addicks for 2 consecutive game days.

    Sorry for the newbie question...I don't know how loans work.

    But, if a player is on loan, who pays his salary, the loaner club or the home club? I was wondering why Fulham is allowed to simply recall Etheridge in a snap.
