NCR, Central Visayas rule Palarong Pambansa 2017 football

NCR defends the championship title against Western Visayas in secondary football while Central Visayas defeats Western Visayas for the elementary football title

Mars Alison

ANTIQUE, Philippines – The National Capital Regional Athletic Association (NCRAA) is the secondary football champions for the second straight year after dealing host region Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) with a 3-1 beating on Saturday, April 29.
In the elementary football contest, the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) halted a two-year title drought by edging WVRAA, 1-0.
NCR also bagged 5 of the 7 special awards including the Most Valuable Player honors which went to Orlan Joseph Togores while Keith Absalon was given the Golden Boot award and named as the Best Striker as well.
Other NCR booters who were given special awards are Marc Jessar Tobias as Best Defender and Jason Edward Blanco as Best Goalkeeper.
Western Visayas' Geri Martini Rey was named as the Best Midfielder while the Negros Island Regional Athletic Association (NIRAA) went away with the Fair Play award.
NCR scored all of its 3 goals in the first half with Shanden Vergara, a former national junior team member, finding the back of the net twice.
“Lipay kay nakagoal ko,” said Vergara. (I'm happy because I scored goals).
Before the finals match started, head coach Bob Salvacion reminded his booters not to be complacent.
“'Wag lang maging complacent kasi there were a couple of matches na naging ganyan yong problem namin na we scored early goals, we get confident with the goals and the opponents get back at us.” (Don't be complacent because there were a couple of matches when we had this problem.)
Secondary Football
At the football pitch in the Binirayan Sports Complex, in his usual fashion, Absalon once again opened the scoring for NCR with an early goal in the 8th minute. Absalon received a high pass from Fidel Victor Tacardon and immediately volleyed in a goal that WVRAA’s goalkeeper failed to save.
Just two minutes later, NCR scored its second goal via Vergara who followed through on a failed attempt of Absalon on a pass from Tacardon.
A few minutes before halftime, Vergara once again found the back of the net on an easy goal from the left inside the penalty box.
In the second half, WVRAA employed man to man markings while NCRAA also intensified its defense.
WVRAA avoided a goal shutout courtesy of Johnny Toledo in the 57th minute. However, it proved to be WVRAA’s lone goal of the match as the NCRAA went on to defend its title.
Bronze in the secondary division went to Calabarzon who defeated NIR, 2-1.
Elementary
Over at the St. Anthony’s College, Simon del Campo was able to find a hole in WVRAA’s defense and sealed the title for CVIRAA just five minutes before the end of regulation.
Head coach Glen Ramos had to adjust their game several times and asked his booters to swap roles in a snap as the opponent was not only bigger but also faster.
Del Campo received a pass from Xyrhyle Ybanez who dropped at the center to draw one of the defenders leaving Del Campo to just contend with two defenders whom he beat for his goal.
Del Campo was named MVP for his efforts and was also given the Golden Boot award. He was also named as the Best Striker.
Other CVIRAA booters who came away with special awards were Joseph Kyne Garces as Best Midfielder and Cyril John Christian Calo as Best Goalkeeper. – Rappler.com

Central Visayas boots past Zamboanga to elem football semis

Mars G. Alison

ANTIQUE, Philippines - The Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA), also known as Region 7, has made it to the final 4 of the elementary football competition of the Palarong Pambansa as they seek to regain the title they won in 2014.
Region 7, which is manned mostly by booters from Don Bosco, now gets a chance to grab a finals ticket after streaking past Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA), 4-2.
Ensuring the semi-finals entry for CVIRAA were Simon del Ocampo, Vaughn York PacaƱa and Gianrenzo Andres Custado, who followed up on his failed penalty kick when it was tapped fortunately back to him by the ZPRAA’s goalie. The penalty resulted from a handball. The last goal was scored by Francis Raven Palag with 5 minutes left in the match.
The CVIRAA booters will have a tough match on their hands as they will contest for one of the finals tickets against Autonomous Region Muslim Mindanao Athletic Association (ARMMAA).
The ARMMAA advanced to the final four round with a 3-0 blanking of Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA).
Fighting for the other finals ticket will be defending champions Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA), which will be facing WVRAA who denied NIR, 2-0, a top 4 slot.
DAVRAA barged into the semifinal round with a 3-1 routing of Soccsksargen Regional Athletic Association (SRAA).
The semifinals matches will be held at the St. Anthony’s College.
Secondary Football enters quarterfinals
The secondary football contest, on the other hand, enters the knockout stage Friday, April 28, at the Binirayan Sports Complex.
Up first will be CVIRAA who will face ARMMAA at 6:30 am while the defending champion NCRAA will go up against EVRAA.

Also hoping to advance to the final 4 are SCRAA who will be playing against NIR and WVRAA who will contest the final semifinals ticket against DAVRAA – Rappler.com

Davao booters open title retention bid on high note

DAVAO Region Athletic Association (Davraa) elementary football team opened its title-retention bid by eking out a 3-0 shutout victory over Calabarzon at the start of the Palarong Pambansa 2017 at St. Anthony College in Antique over the weekend. Palaro 2016 elementary football champion Davraa relied on Jhojie Fernandez who knocked in two goals as teammate Emmanuel Loquero added one goal to help lift the Rey Henry "Ewee" De Leon-coached squad take the debut win. De Leon earlier told SunStar Davao that they will take each game at a time and not pressure his boys to defend the crown. Davraa, however, held Mimaropa to a scoreless draw in bracket A when action resumed on Monday. "May ilang finishing natin na hindi na convert into goals. Sayang nga eh," De Leon said in a text interview, adding that players of both teams have similar height. The seasoned coach also said, "It's difficult to say na makukuha natin ulit ang gold pero sana makuha natin." Next game is set tomorrow at 8 a.m. opposite Central Visayas. The Davraa secondary football team forced a 2-2 standoff with Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) behind the back-to-back goals of team captain Justin Luis Uy of Ateneo de Davao University at the University of Antique. Alex Adolfo is coaching the Davraa secondary booters who were pitted against Zamboanga Peninsula Region as of Monday evening. The team is also composed of Enrico Miguel Magno, Jose Antonio Lopez, Miguel Royo, Gabriel Leyson, Joshua Joseph de Luna, Andrei Amir Amaikurut, Martin Antepuesto, Kyrt Anton Dimaandal of Ateneo; Jhon Mark Diamat of Emar Human and Environmental College; Angelo Paring of Rizal Memorial Colleges; Raymund Casona and Krist Kenneth Igpit of the University of Mindanao; Norjhon Gandarosa of Maco Atty. NCR cops secondary boys football title in heated Palaro final

NCR plays with 9 men in the second half as police intervene twice after repeated altercations in the secondary boys football final against Central Visayas at the 2016 Palarong Pambansa
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Third time's the charm for National Capital Region after they finally captured the secondary boys football title by edging the Central Visayas, 2-1, in a heated finals clash in the 2016 Palarong Pambansa on Saturday, April 16 at the BU-Albay Sports and Tourism Complex football field here.
NCR, made up of booters from 6-time UAAP champions Far Eastern University, rebounded from back-to-back years of losing to Mimaropa and Western Visayas since 2014.
The intense match was mired by a fracas in the second half that resulted in the ejection of two NCR players, Ealhwine Jehoiakim Dalam and Darryl Aban, as well as Central Visayas goalkeeper Joseph Kei Ceniza.
It did not help that the referees missed several calls that served to further fuel the intensity between the teams.
Repeated altercations
A few minutes after the start of the second half, the game was interrupted for about 5 minutes when NCR coach Kim Chul Su vehemently demanded the referee call a foul on a Central Visayas player.
The referee decided to eject the coach from the match but he refused to leave the pitch even when the police were called in to interfere. The referee eventually decided to overturn his decision and the game restarted.
The match was once again interrupted for more than 10 minutes when another commotion took place, this time involving the players.
While trying to save a goal, Central Visayas goalkeeper Ceniza got entangled with NCR’s Keith Absalon, who had held on to Ceniza's foot while falling to the ground.
Ceniza tried to pull his foot free, and it must have seemed that he was trying to kick the fallen NCR player as teammate, Aban, immediately reacted by punching Ceniza.
“I didn’t feel good. I need that important player [Absalon]. He is a good striker,” said Kim Chul Su.
Ceniza was then pulled to the side by John Clyde Vitualla in an effort to stop the situation from escalating but NCR players pursued Central Visayas team members and a chase ensued. Police eventually had to intervene.
The spectators also got into an altercation of their own and things would have also escalated if the police had not gone up to intervene.
The game eventually went underway but it was halted again after tournament officials decided to eject 3 players leaving NCR with a 9-man lineup on the pitch as Ceniza was replaced by Jessie Semblante.
Tight contest
Both teams started hot with NCR immediately going for the attack with current UAAP Best Striker and Best Midfielder Chester Gio Pabualan coming close to scoring twice in the early minutes.
However goal attempts were repeatedly foiled by the tight defense employed by Central Visayas, whose team is made up of players from Don Bosco Technology Center, Paref Springdale, Don Bosco Boys Home and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation).
Ryan James Haosen led Central Visayas' attack until team captain Glen Thomas Ceniza eventually found the back of the net when he converted a penalty in the 12th minute as a result of a foul committed on Ouano, who was tackled hard from the back.
NCR tried to level the match via Aban but failed when he figured in a head-on collision against Ceniza, who momentarily laid on the ground holding on to his head.
NCR scored the equalizer in the 25th minute via Dalam, capitalizing on the lapse of Central Visayas defender Erich Rafael Orale who tried to clear out a cross from Aban from the left flank.
Instead, Orale headed the ball straight to Dalam, who was at the center and wasted no time to knock in a goal Ceniza failed to save.
NCR scored their winning goal courtesy of Christian Bacara after he found an opening in the Central Visayas defense with 3 minutes remaining in the match.
The first half ended 2-1 in favor of NCR and neither side scored another goal in the second half.
Special awards
NCR’s Absalon was named the Most Valuable Player as well as Best Midfielder.
Central Visayas’ Orale was named as Best Defender, while Bicol Region’s own Jovan Marfiga was named as Best Striker.
The Best Goalkeeper was copped by Western Visayas’ Ashley Bernales while Caraga was given the Best Fair Play award.
Special awardees received P2,000 worth of Coca Cola products aside from the cash incentives handed by the Department of Education. – with reports from Caleb Joshua Pacleta/Rappler

Storybook ending for underrated booters

 MYKE MIRAVITE

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines -- "You are now the best in the Philippines."
A teary-eyed MIMAROPA coach Joseph Malaya ran into the middle of the field to hug his goal keeper after he saved the penalty of a Central Visayas player in what could be the biggest surprise in this year's Palarong Pambansa.
Joshua Dalida, the hero for MIMAROPA in the gold medal match of secondary football, cried in his coach's arms after he stopped Gylan Ventulero's shot to complete their fairy tale run in the biggest sporting event in the country.
"I had no idea where the ball was going. I just followed my gut and took to my left. When it hit my hand, I knew we finally had it," the Romblon-native told Rappler.
MIMAROPA could have taken the win much earlier as substitute striker Britz Manzo pounced on a loose ball inside the box to drill the first goal of the game.
"I am tired from all my games so I came on as a substitute. But when I stepped on the field, I wanted to score right away," Manzo, who had to play through pain in their previous game due to injury, said.
With the MIMAROPA crowd already celebrating, Cebu's Karlo Villamor pulled one back for Central Visayas less than 2 minutes left in the game to force a nerve-wracking shootout.
"It was painful. Very painful," Malaya shared about the late goal his boys conceded. "They relaxed after they scored. That should have not happened."
Not treated as serious contenders
Entering the tournament as underdogs, MIMAROPA came from under the radar to go perfect in the eliminations en route to a semifinals date with SOCCSKSARGEN Friday afternoon.
"Nobody treated us as serious contenders but at the end of the day, we won the gold," quipped Malaya.
In a fixture tagged as the battle of the dark horses, MIMAROPA took the lead early as Manzo opened the books after he found the net in the 33rd minute.
"Coach and our officials really helped us all the way. They left their families in the province just to be here. I just want to return the favor," Manzo said.
Cotabato Region however, caught Mimaropa's defense sleeping to score off a counter and restore parity midway in the second half.
"It's normal. It's common for young players to make such mistakes," MIMAROPA's coach said.
Fortunately for Malaya, his boys pulled through in the penalties, sending SOCCSKSARGEN home, 4-3.
Replay of semis match
Their finals match against last year's finalists Central Visayas was a replay of their yesterday's game.
MIMAROPA, whose core comes from Romblon, controlled the first half with nifty passes and accurate crosses. They were however, unable to open the scoring before the half time whistle.
It was a balanced second half as both teams were able to etch some chances but it remained a goal-less affair until Manzo, who came in 10 minutes earlier, scored the opener.
MIMAROPA was already in a celebratory mood as the clock melted but Central Visayas was able to pull off a stunner, with just 2 minutes remaining when Karlo Villamor found an open goal to tap in the equalizer.
With the penalties knotted at 4-all, Dalida shone once more for Mimaropa as he went to his left and stopped Ventulero's shot. The crowd then exploded as Mimaropa captures its first crown in Palaro in recent years.
"We are super happy. This is the first time we won a major title. This is extra sweet," a visibly happy Malaya exclaimed amidst the victory celebration.
For MIMAROPA, fairy tale runs do come true. - Rappler.com

MIMAROPA completes fairytale run with football crown

Lean Santos

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines - Saving grace.
MIMAROPA goalkeeper Joshua Dalida made the game-winning save in the penalty shootout to lift Region IV-B to a 5-4 (penalties) win that capped their fairytale championship run in the 2013 Palarong Pambansa boys secondary football tournament.
With his team holding a precarious lead, Dalida guessed Gylan Ventulero's shot, choosing right and saving the shot going to the bottom right corner of the goal as MIMAROPA bagged their first football title in recent years.
"I had no idea where the ball will go but I just trusted my guts and went to my left. The next thing I knew, I made the save," he said, the feeling of being a champion still sinking.
Manzo plays hero once again
After a quiet first half, MIMAROPA drew first blood as Britz Manzo lifted his team in the 71st minute with a composed finish inside the box.
Manzo, who suffered an injury in their first elimination game, proved his quality with a brilliant run with skipper Jopridale Molino and striker Leon Hagedorn. The three ace booters made a run into the box, playing a one-two passing game, with Molino striking at the edge.
Malinao, the Central Visayas goalkeeper saved Molino's shot but spilled the ball as the rebound fell on the foot of Manzo, who finished it clinically at the upper right corner of the goal.
The goal put MIMAROPA in the driver's seat to win the gold medal with under 10 minutes left in regulation time.
But the Central Visayas booters pulled a trick out of their sleeves in the dying minutes of the game.

Late game equalizer
Down 1-0, Central Visayas went top speed to salvage an equalizer in the dying minutes of the game. Prolific footballers Miguel Kwan, Jun Carlo Canlas and Karlo Villamor showed enterprise with brilliant runs in the MIMAROPA half.
Their hardwork paid off when Villamor scored in the 79th minute to breathe life to Central Visayas' campaign.
The goal came off a scuffle in the box from a freekick in the left side of the MIMAROPA half. Dalida parried the ball away and made 2 more saves from a barrage of attacks from the Central Visayas booters before Villamor found the ball and kicked it hard to beat the overwhelmed MIMAROPA keeper.
Regulation time ended with the score tied at 1-1.
Penalty shootout
In MIMAROPA's second penalty shootout in two consecutive games, Dalida took the limelight again.
Central Visayas answered every penalty scored by MIMAROPA with just the glitch at the end.
Skipper Molino, Fallaria and Hagedorn scored the first 3 penalties for MIMAROPA, while Villamor, Kwan and Pelicano equalized for Central Visayas. Dalida got a hand in Kwan's penalty shot but the kick was so strong, it went to the back of the net.
Felicida scored for Central Visayas to neutralize Valenzuela's score for MIMAROPA. Central Visayas goalkeeper Malinao could have lifted his team had he fully saved Valenzuela's shot.
The last shots for both teams proved to be the deciding factor with the score tied at 4-4. Arboleda scored the last penalty for MIMAROPA to get them ahead, 5-4.

With a save giving them the championship, Dalida was again put to the pressure. Ventulero took the last shot for Central Visayas, striking in the far right of the goal. But Dalida was unfazed and saved the shot for MIMAROPA's championship.
"We are so happy. I could not ask for anything else. I'm so proud of my boys," MIMAROPA coach Joseph Malaya said.
Central Visayas coach Dionilo Santillan, clearly upset with the result, lauded MIMAROPA for their fighting spirit and said they will come back next year, stronger.
"MIMAROPA deserves the win. We will take the result. We will come back next year. We may not be champions this year, but our hearts are," he said in tears while hugging his players.
In the runners up match, Cotabato Region bagged 3rd place after defeating defending champions NCR. Western Visayas settles for 5th while Davao Region ends the competition at 6th. -

MIMAROPA, Central Visayas set football finals duel

 LEAN SANTOS

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines - The battle was so close, penalties were needed to settle the score.
Tagged as the battle of the darkhorses, MIMAROPA proved to be the bigger surprise package after they beat fiery Cotabato Region in a tightly contested match that was eventually settled in a penalty shootout, 4-3.
Britz Manzo, MIMAROPA's footballer who insisted to play for his region despite an injury, opened the scoring with a 33rd minute composed strike at the bottom left corner.
The stunning goal was a thing of beauty with Manzo dribbling the ball past 2 defenders before shooting it past the Cotabato Region goalkeeper for the opening score.
In the second match, Central Visayas leaned on a brace by substitute Joseph Felicida to squeak past defending champion NCR, 2-1.
The goal put MIMAROPA ahead in the opening half of the match and sparked hope to their first ever finals appearance in recent memory. The region's highest finish in the tournament in recent year's is last year's 3rd place campaign.
Despite the first half goal by Manzo, MIMAROPA was caught in the back foot in the majority of the half. The mostly Romblon and Puerto Princesa-based booters relied on counterattacks with the blazing speed of talismanic winger Jayson Rafol.
Cotabato Region almost scored an equalizer in the 38th minute after J. Peril's attempt hit the crossbar. The attempt came from a beautiful passing sequence from the SOCCSKSARGEN booters in the box.
MIMAROPA showed solid defending and lethal counterattacking in the first half, while Cotabato Region showed excellent possession football but lacked sting in the attacking third.
Second half equalizer
Down 1-0 in the first half, Cotabato Region went full throttle at the opening whistle of the second half.
After several attempts coming from the wings, Cotabato Region finally drilled its equalizer from a clinical finish by Steven Anotado.
Receiving a potent cross from his teammate, Anotado handled the ball well inside the box and performed a one-two passing scheme with a teammate. The return pass saw Anotado and the MIMAROPA GK one-on-one. The SOCCSKSARGEN booter beat the keeper with an easy tap in the goal.
MIMAROPA tried to salvage the winning goal with relentless attacks from skipper Jopridale Molino with a perfectly chested ball, landing on his feet. The strike, however, was inches off the far post.
The game ended, 1-1.
Penalty shootout
With the game ending in a draw in regulation time, the two teams settled the score with a penalty shootout with both goalkeepers pushed to showcase their skill.
MIMAROPA skipper Molino and Fallaria scored the first two penalties for their region, while J. Feril scored the penalty for SOCCSKSARGEN.
Standing tall for his teammates, MIMAROPA goalkeeper J. Dalida, saved Saling's penalty for Cotabato Region to keep his region on top.
The next two penalties for both teams were converted. Leon Hagedorn and J. Rafol scored for MIMAROPA while Steven Anotado and Cabalianga scored for Cotabato Region to bring the score within striking distance, 4-3.
The last two strikes between the last two players from both sides proved to be the deciding factor. In the penalty strike that will assure MIMAROPA's finals appearance, Marino fell short after his penalty went wide left.
With the suddent turn of events, Stephen Anotado's strike will decide the fate of the Cotabato Region's booters in the campaign for gold. But Anotado's strike went wide right.
The miss assured MIMAROPA's first finals appearance in recent memory.
MIMAROPA will face 2012 runner-up Central Visayas on Saturday, April 27, for the finals game in the Palarong Pambansa 2013 football event.
Tune in to get the final results, highlights and statistics of the finals game. - Rappler.com

Limpag: DBC, USC prove case for football program

By Mike T. Limpag
Fair Play
Monday, May 14, 2012
I READ a rather interesting article in the national paper the other day, about the much-hyped NCR squad in the Palarong Pambansa, which eventually won the high school gold.
I have nothing against NCR, especially its team manager Vince Santos, but reading something like “NCR is expected to go for gold against Central Visayas, the defending champion but the underdog here, early today,” sure left a bad taste in my mouth.

Scoring 35 goals in four games, sure, speaks a lot about a football program, but so is making the finals in the Palarong Pambansa, which for me, is still the barometer of a football program because of the things teams have to go through, just to get to the games.
And making the finals is what both Cebu City teams—both led by Don Bosco College—did in the Palaro, winning the elementary division and losing the high school finals.
And you have to hand it to their elementary squad, winning one Palaro title may be amazing, but winning three in six years? That speaks a lot for what kind of program Don Bosco has because it can find an able replacement to whoever graduates.
DBC has won the gold medal in 2006, 2008 and 2012, while finishing second in 2007 and 2011. Some members of the 2007 team that failed to defend its title, guys like Val Calvo and Jay Arrizabal, are also members of this year’s losing high school squad. I saw how disappointed the elementary team was in 2007 and I’m sure the guys are just as bitter that they end their Palaro stint with another loss.
The NCR squad has been likened to the younger version of the Loyola Meralco Sparks and what does that make of Don Bosco? For sure, they are no younger version of any Cebu squad, but I sure do hope that their success in the Palaro competition can be mirrored in the other national football tournaments like the age groups.
Why is it we can win the tough ones like the Palaro, but lose badly in the other contests when these tournaments basically feature the same players?
I think the answer, and I’m sure some of the coaches out there know it, would be an interesting one.
Aside from Don Bosco, the University of San Carlos, led by coaches Gary Panagsagan and Joshua Fegidero, deserves a huge pat on the back for topping the Prisaa national finals.
Even if they beat my kababayans from South Cotabato in the finals, I was really happy that USC won because this is one college team that really takes its football seriously. It also means Gary, the former assistant to Joshua, has now done one better than his former boss.
Back when Joshua was still in charge, the former national team player said he had a massive plan for USC’s football program that would involve the most crucial level—elementary. Sadly, that program never kicked off and USC is a curious case as it has a champion college team, whose high school and elementary counterparts are doormats.
A good football program in the elementary level would greatly benefit the high school and college teams and I think the Prisaa win should prod the folks running USC to listen to what Gary and Joshua have to say.
These guys have proven that they know what they’re doing and I think if USC gives them the permission, or expands their job description, these guys can give Don Bosco and other age group powerhouse teams like Abellana National School and Paref Springdale a run for their money in a few years.
Go USC!

Football: NCR to face Central Visayas

GOING FOR GOLD. The NCR team will attempt to bring home the gold at Palarong Pambansa. David Lozada.
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan - Showing a more polished game, National Capital Region continued to steamroll through competition, this time ripping Bicol Region, 7-0, to land a spot in the finals of the 2012 Palarong Pambansa secondary football championship at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here.
The win enabled the Metro Manila booters, represented by Far Eastern University - FERN, to challenge defending champion Central Visayas for the crown tomorrow at the same venue.
Region VII leaned on the heroics of Jun Jay Arizabal, who drilled in all goals in their 2-0 win over hard-fighting CALABARZON earlier today.
For NCR, it was Alex Rayos, Jr. who shone bright, banking in three of the team's seven goals -- two of them in the first half -- as the Baby Tamaraws hiked their goal total to 35 while conceding only one.
In the elementary division, NCR battles Region VII while Western Visayas takes on defending champion Northern Mindanao in the semifinals. -Rappler.com

NCR football team awes fans with attacking style

By Joey Villar

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan - Call the National Capital Region’s secondary football team as the younger version of the Loyola Meralco Sparks.
The Big City booters, represented by standouts from reigning back-to-back UAAP high school champion Far Eastern U, have been entertaining spectators here with their attacking football and made it to the finals by scoring a whopping 35 goals in four games.
And that is because NCR has a training director in Loyola’s Korean mentor Kim Chul Su and a coach in Vincent Santos, who is a member of Kim’s coaching staff at the Sparks.
“We have a strong football program at FEU and we’ve been teaching our boys to play this kind of game, which is attacking football,” said Santos, whose squad thumped Bicol, 7-0, in the semifinals over at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center amid the scorching high noon heat.
NCR is expected to go for gold against Central Visayas, the defending champion but the underdog here, early today.
Kim and Santos will then head back home to catch the game of the Sparks where the massively popular and immensely talented Phil and James Younghusband await in a game against another United FootballLeague First Division contender Kaya FC.
