Copa eyed for March

By

The 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara has a proposed March take-off date of March, the Philippine Football League (PFL) said yesterday.

PFL commissioner Coco Torre said the league is now in the process of finalizing the date and the teams that will compete.

Owing to the surge of Covid cases last year, the PFL decided to postpone its fifth season and instead held the much shorter Copa under a semi-bubble setup in Carmona, Cavite, last November.
The bootfest was won by Kaya FC, which went unbeaten during the entire time.

In the final, Kaya beat the Azkals Development Team, 1-0.

United City FC made a last-minute withdrawal from the tournament, leaving five teams slugging it out for top honors.

Others that participated included Stallion Laguna, Mendiola and Cebu FC.
