Yeedzin 0-5 Global

Cebu: Global FC impressed on the first ever AFC President’s Cup outing for a team from the Philippines on Wednesday when the UFL (United Football League) champions eased to a 5-0 victory over Bhutan’s Yeedzin.
Five players got their names on the scoresheet with the historic first goal from a Filipino team coming from Patrick Reichelt with just five minutes at the Cebu Sports Centre played before Martinez de Murga quickly followed up the Germany-born Philippines international winger’s seminal strike four minutes later.
Brian Reid’s side were in blistering form and on the quarter-of-the-hour mark Ben Starosta, an England-born former Poland U-20 international, made it 3-0 before Misagh Bahadoran, a Philippines national team and national futsal team player who has an Iranian father, added a fourth for the aptly-named Global five minutes later.
Yeedzin tightened up defensively following Global’s explosive start and after scoring four times in the first 20 minutes the Bhutanese champions restricted their Philippines’ counterparts to just a 64th minute Janver Angeles goal but by that stage the match was all but over as a contest.
The victory took Global to the top of the Group B standings after the first round of matches following a surprise 1-1 draw between KRL of Pakistan and six-time AFC President’s Cup finalists Dordoi.
