FOLLOWING the successful inaugural Philippine-Malaysia Veteran Soccer Tournament last year in Bacolod City, another match between the two countries is set to kick-off Thursday at Panaad Stadium football pitch.
The Bacolod-based Bacolod United Football Club (BUFC) represented by erstwhile RP national team standouts will take on the visiting International Football Club of Malaysia at the main event tonight at 6 p.m.
Tony Mariadass of IFC squad will lead the team. Mariadass was also responsible for the team's flying in the Malay Mail Veteran Soccer Team to Bacolod last year. The team is composed of Choi Chong Yuen, To Chin Hian, Sufardi Rijan, R Ravindran N Ramuderan, Vincent Clement D Thamby Rajah, Pok Yoke Kung, Kelvin Christopher, Bhupinder Singh Arjan Singh, Kok Kuan Hing, Yan Wai Leong, Tan Koh Wai, Wong Fook Yuen, Ho Hon Seong, Kiriwan Vongpricha Jeyaratnam S Seevaratnam, Ravichandran Ramanathan, Balamurugan Kasinathan, Kiranjit Singh Tara Singh, Tara Singh, Rajindar Singh Gurdev Singh, Shiranjit Singh Tara Singh, Sarban Singh Dyal Singh, Ho Onn Keong, Fahzun Nizam Bin Jailani, Sim Siew Hing, Mohamad Azli Bin Abdul Aziz, Darshan Singh Gian Singh, Devan Nair N Gengatharan, Tan Sin Choy, and British nationals Stephen Philip Krupa and Douglas James Webster.
Meanwhile, Bacolod United is proudly bannered by former RP squad campaigners led by Norman Fegidero, Raymando Baldava Sr., Dennis de Asis, Simon Hulleza, Arnel Sagansay, Nicolas and Rommel Kalalang, John Moreno, Ronnie Tornella, Alfred Diosio Jr., Jonathan Esmolo, Lorenzo Litonjua, Ronald and Gregg Gustilo, Edwin Borromeo, Enrique Barcelona, Reynaldo Dufetas, Leo Aranaiz, Manuel Dabao and Broderick Segovia.
On the other, another local squad known as the Real Negrense Football Club will meet the Barotac Nuevo Football Club in the first game.
According to Warren Concepcion, match commissioner, that this event is a preparation of the forthcoming 1st Philippine-Malaysia 40-above Football Championship sometime in May this year.
The event is bankrolled by Philippine Football Federation, IFC-Malaysia, BUFC led by Larry Litonjua and Milky Benedicto, and Executive Village Football Club headed by president Rafael Lizares Jr.
