Kuala Lumpur: Twenty nations learned the path they must take to book their place at the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup at the draw for next year's qualifying tournament.

The team that emerges victorious at the end of the fifth edition of the tournament will join 2012 AFC Cup Challenge Cup winners DPR Korea, who have had their status upgraded and no longer qualify for participation in the competition.

  1. Correction, Jonny. "five" group winners and two best second-placed teams.

Anyway, wow, then it's not really easy. If we lose to Turkmenistan, we should score as many goals as we can against Cambodia and Brunei to compete among runners-up from other groups. Shouldn't be taken lightly.

  2. I copied it from AFC website, but they made a mistake and wrote four group winners, so I had to correct it :)

  3. Brunei will be a tough team if they field DPMM Fc players. They also beat Philippines 2-1 in SEA Games in 2011.

Cambodia was romoured to have withdrawn from AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers but seem to be back again ? They drew Philippines 0-0 this year , Philippines will probably beat them but maybe with many goals ?

  5. Tough draw. In a competition where only the group winners advance plus the two best 2nd place teams, they ended up having the highest ranked team in their group.

The Azkals need to get as many of their best players as they can. Will it be possible to convince the AFC to move the group stage competition to May or June as they have indicated they will try to do?
