HOST Ifugao and two-bracket defending champion Benguet will have to beat twice Baguio City to win the twin championships in boys football Friday morning at the Lagawe Central School grounds here.
Ifugao eliminated Benguet, 1-0, to forge the championship match with Baguio in the elementary bracket.
The host squad succumbed to the city, 0-1, in their initial encounter Monday and will have to avenge that loss to arrange a third and final encounter Benguet, however, blanked Abra, 4-0, to keep alive its title-retention bid in the high school division, also under a two-to-beat advantage for Baguio which topped the double elimination series without a loss in the two brackets.
Abra coach Judy Tacis accepted defeat with 11 more minutes to go, after Benguet striker Allan Fuchigami drove in a couple of grounders, which doubled his team’s 2-0 first half lead.
As with Ifugao in the elementary level, Benguet’s high school eleven took a 0-1 loss in the hands of Baguio in the preliminaries, its only defeat so far.
