UFL: Cebu Queen City United hammers Socceroo, 6-1

By Joey Villar

Cebu Queen City United FC smashed Team Socceroo, 6-1, to inch close to the pace-setters in the Second Division of the United Football League at the University of Makati field in Makati City.

The Visayan booters leaned on a pair of goals by John Michael Flores and Dan Villarico to overpower their foes, pushing their team from No. 5 to No. 4 with 13 points on four wins, two losses and a draw.

Team Socceroo fell from No. 4 to No. 5 with 13 points after absorbing its third defeat against the same number of wins and a draw.

After Flores and Socceroos' Christopher Roza swapped goals in the first 14 minutes to go level at 1-1, Benedict Luis Ariola broke the tie with a 25-minute goal that was quickly followed by another goal by Flores – his second of the match – three minutes later.

Villarico then blasted away with a couple of goals in a span of three minutes before the match entered the break to give Cebu a comfortable 5-1 advantage. Marion Rey Cubelo capped the lopsided win with a rocket-like goal on the 76th.
