THE Panaad Stadium and Recreational Park football pitch atBaatangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City will once again be the venue of a national football event on April 25-28, 2010, when the Executive Village Football Club headed by businessman Junie Lizares hosts the National Under-14 Girls and Under-19 Ladies Football Championship in cooperation with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
Expected to field teams in this two-division event are Davao, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, National Capital Region to be represented by NCRFA and RIFA and host team EVFC.
The move to host the national tournaments in Bacolod is a product of the consultations among various provincial associations in the Visayas including PFF Women’s Committee chair Mariano Araneta, Richard Montayre of Cebu, Deck Emperado of Negros Occidental Football Association in Dumaguete (NORFA), and Lizares which is intended top primarily discover Visayas talents and provide them opportunity for top-caliber competition as well as the possibility of being scouted for the national teams.
In this regard, EVFC is set to conduct a U14 and U19 training camps in the various venues in the province to be participated in by standouts from various football centers including San Carlos City, Victorias, Talisay, Bago, as well as school and club teams in Bacolod.
The training camps are set to kick off this Saturday at Panaad at 2:00 p.m. with 32 participants in the U14 category to be handled by head coach Reymando Baldava of Victorias assisted by Mark Yap of Rizal Elementary School, Janilo Soriano of Talisay and Vicente Ortigas of San Carlos and with former RP Team standout John Carmona as consultant.
The U19 division with 35 players will be handled by coaches Warren Concepcion, Rinelle De Oca and Paul Espinosa.
The national U14 champion team will compete in the AFC-organized ASEAN U14 championship in Vietnam in June while the U19national champion squad will represent the country in the AFC U19 Qualifying in October at a venue which is still being determined. (HCV)
