THE NEW football program of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and implemented by the Cebu Football Association (CFA) is proving to be effective after the Cebu Elite Team have so far posted success in the ongoing Regional Festival of Football held in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The U-11 team coached by Glenn Ramos already has the championship title in their hands while the U-12 of coach Mario Ceniza and the U-14 of coach Oliver Colina will be seeing action in the finals this afternoon.
The Cebu Elite U-11 team bagged the title after winning all three of its matches. Ramos' boys first routed the San Carlos Football Club, 13-1, then shutout San Carlos City A, 8-0, last Friday. Yesterday, the team outsmarted San Carlos City B, 12-2, for the title.
Ramos said he credited his boys' success to the new program, which has made the team more advance in their training against their opponents.
He said the preparations and the experience the team gained through the several tournaments held here in Cebu were also of great help to the boys.
The U-12 will be contesting the title against the Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) this afternoon. They blanked Dumaguete, 3-0, in the semifinals yesterday.
In the U-14, Colina's boys will be facing Dumaguete, the only team which gave them a defeat in the eliminations.
The U-14 team gained a finals seat after routing NOFA, 3-0.
