After achieving a dramatic comeback from two goals down, the Loyola Meralco Sparks were understandably jubilant after the final whistle. But the celebrations were cut short after members of Manila Jeepney, including head coach Kim Chul-Su, were involved in a fracas as they expressed their annoyance at the result, and their disappointment at the referee. The incident saw both benches cleared, but mostly with the intention of restraining certain individuals from violent actions.
“From their bench, to be winning 2-nil against one of the top teams in the League, to then go down 3-2, there was always going to be frustration coming for their bench. And James’ (Younghusband) request was simply to shake hands. There had been a lot of back and forth during the game. For one reason or another, players decided not to shake hands and walked straight off the field after a really tough game,” said McMenemy when asked about the incident.
“I have no idea what their coach was going on about. He looked like he was after the referee. I think that’s something that needs to be looked at because, I may talk, but I don’t touch referees – that’s not on. So maybe the UFL will have a little look at what happened there.”
An incident report has since been filed by the match officials regarding the events that transpired after the final whistle, and the United Football League’s disciplinary committee will release their decision in the coming days before the weekend.

ReplyDeleteThe mongs running the ufl can't even put their foot down regarding transfers outside the transfer window (Ie. Hartmann-Dizon) and McMenemy expects them to act on issues like this? hahahahahahaha!!
No1 respect UFL already.
ReplyDeleteThanks to 1 person underhand method to makes his team successful people hate UFL even more
He is not the saviour of football at all
Don't understand why people are complaining about the transfer. People can always transfer even outside a transfer window in any league in the world. It just means that if you do void a contract and transfer it to another club, you can't play for the new club until the window reopens.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Most players and teams choose not to do it because players don't like sitting out for extended periods of time.
DeleteHowever, some clubs take the risk because like in Global's case they are using Matt Hartmann for the AFC Cup game. Which is why the transfer was rushed at the time it was so he could make the lineup deadline. Feel bad for Curt who now has to wait till April to play a competitive game.

ReplyDeleteYou're ignorant!! Yes any team in the world can do transfer dealings outside of the transfer window but if you do, you CANNOT REGISTER them. Meaning they are unable to take part in any official/competitive fixtures which includes continental competitions like the AFC Cup!!!
AFC Cup allows you to name your roster up to a designated deadline, which I believe in this case is 7 days before.
DeleteIt's now up to AFC to police if they would allow the fact a player's contract was still active with a previous club at the time of the submission of rosters.
So with that in mind, this is clearly not the UFL's fault or problem is it? UFL is following their rules and not allowing either player to play until the transfer window reopens. It's now up to AFC.
There are similar cases of ambiguity with MLS players going to Europe and then back to MLS before season''s end in Europe. Do some thorough research before name calling.
MLS and europe is loan back to same owner club like Lampard.
DeleteBeside this was done when MLS transfer dateline still there and the europe dateline still on like beckham..
Please get your facts straight.
How is Gobal and Layola related??
Awww... did your feelings get hurt by being called "ignorant"?!? lolololol!!!
DeleteObviously there's a deadline to register your roster for AFC's competitions but that doesn't mean the transfer window remains open after it officially closes just because you still have time to register your squad for a continental competition! So yes, this is a problem of the UFL. They're the ones governing transfer dealings locally! Transfer regulations are fairly standard. You can register new players when the window is open. Any new signings that aren't bosman transfers cannot be registered until th next window opens. Those signings cannot take part in any official/competitive fixture until that time!
With your logic, clubs in Europe can sign players after their transfer window opens because they have time to register their squads for the Champions League or Europa League!
You should be the one doing the research!
Lampard was originally suppose to move in March when MLS started until all the controversy. Definitely not an open window in Europe. Loan or not, it's all dirty every where in the world clubs try to take advantage of loop holes in the rules. I actually think the setup of one owner, owning multiple clubs around the world to jump around transfer rules is way worse.
DeleteBecks was also suppose to go back to LA in March but he played so well Milan begged him and MLS to stay.
DeleteUFL like you said governs locally, thus they aren't allowed to play locally. PFF never helped the UFL until showing interest to help this January. Thus, the UFL never had any affiliation to AFC except for being invited to President's cup thus they have no jurisdiction or alignment with AFC rules and deadlines.
DeleteI don't like Global but unless AFC steps in they just played the game and circumvented the rules. A contract was voided, thus he is technically free. Unless AFC has clear rules for this situation, which I am not sure they do.

DeleteI think tangengot ka! With what you've just said, you're saying that there is a "continental transfer window" apart from the individual transfer windows per country. No such thing!
Its seems that palami and global lovers will keep ranting that there is a set of rules only for their clubs and doing..
Deletekeep it up guys..
I am not a hater of Palami or Global but the fact remains that the transfer of Hartmann at this eime can not and should not be recognized as this is not in line with AFC & FIFA transfer rules.
Delete@ Anonymous 20 February 2015 at 15:56
DeleteThat's the thing. So many people are so pro-Palami and that he's some kind of messiah of Philippine football and therefore they praise him to no end. From there they think he can pretty much do whatever he wants. And if someone criticizes him or Global they label you as a hater or something else that's just as stupid. It's a load of crap to say the least!
Anonymous 19 February @ 15:53 is exactly right. A player may only be registered for 1 club at a time. A player may only be registered during the Registration Periods (open windows) except if a players contract has expired prior to the end of a Registration Period may be registered outside the Registration Period. The Hartmann's case does not fall under the exception as his contract would still end in June. Technically Hartmann is still registered with Loyola and thus makes him ineligible to play for any other club in any official match including the UFL and AFC Cup. That is the General Rule mandated on the Status and Transfer of players Regulations of FIFA
ReplyDeleteWhich is why Global needs to be punished for feilding an inelligible player in the AFC Cup! If it needs be they should be excluded completely.
Delete^^Agreed. In fact, Ceres should lodge a protest!
DeleteComments on the thread don't even address the topic of the article. Haha!
ReplyDeleteSimon is the most critical and abusive of referees in the league. Just because you don't touch them doesnt mean verbal abuse and insult is acceptable.
