Ho Chi Minh: Hosts Vietnam clinched their second win and stayed on
top of the table as they beat the Philippines 4-0 in the AFC U-14 Girls
Regional Championship ASEAN region at Thong Nhat Stadium on Wednesday.
Vietnam, who had a good opening day by thrashing Malaysia 7-1 on
Tuesday, was on fire to win this next game and led the Filipinas 2-0 at
the half time before doubling the lead to 4-0 at the final whistle.
Nguyen Thi Quynh, who scored a whopping four of the seven goals against
Malaysia, recorded a brace, scoring on 24 and 41 minutes, in the meet
with the Philippines.
Nguyen Thi Nu, who also got on the scoresheet with a goal against the
Malaysian girls, scored a double against the Marnelli Salvador
Dimzon-led Filipinas, bulging their net on 29 and 45 minutes.
Vietnam now top the table having won two straight games with Thailand trailing closely on second spot on goal difference.
In two later matches on Wednesday, Myanmar defeated Cambodia 6-0 while Thailand downed Malaysia 8-1.
The Philippines, who equalled Vietnam by opening their campaign with
also a 7-1 victory over Cambodia, will play the Malaysians while the
hosts led by head coach Nguyen Thi Khanh Thu face Myanmar on Thursday.
