The Malaysia Under-23 team is in the sights of Philippines for a tune up match before they kickoff their 2014 Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup qualifiers in Manila this Month.
This comes after the Azkals had their proposed friendly match against Hong Kong scrapped due to scheduling issues.
Philippines’ boss Hans Michael Weiss told InterAKTV that they are now looking for a date which is viable for both teams to play in a friendly match.
He feels that the Young Tigers, the current defending SEA games’ champions, are a good side to face before his team goes into the qualifying campaign later this month.
Weiss said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to play a very strong team, which is very good. I want to make the most of this opportunity because it’s very valuable for the players.”
The Malaysia Under-23 squad have won the gold medal in the past two editions of the SEA games and are picked to win it again this year.
The 2013 SEA games will take place in December in Naypyidaw, the new capital of Myanmar, as well as in two other main cities, Yangon and Mandalay.

anong fantastic luckluster kamo imbes na paabante tayo paurong tayo junior lang kalaban d na ko magtataka kng manalo azkals lol!
ReplyDelete"Junior lang"... sure... but at the end of the day, it's not just about winning, it's also about the actual performance. You can beat these junior teams all you like, but if the performances are crap where you barely scrape out a win, then you really haven't really moved forward at all. Although I agree. I'd rather see us play a full national team prior to the qualifiers!
